Skype Recorder is a free call recording software for Skype that can manually or automatically record Skype conversations. The option to record the conversations automatically is one of the most comfortable options that can be a real timesaver in a business environment.

The program will search for Skype upon launch and if found display a notification to allow access to Skype so that calls can be recorded. It is by default configured to manually record both sides of a Skype conversation.

This can be changed in the program’s options to only record one side of the conversation and to automatically record calls in Skype.

Other available options include starting the program with the Windows operating system and to configure the mp3 recording quality. The default settings record calls in stereo with a bitrate of 64 Kbit and a sample rate of 32000.

Skype Recorder uses the lame mp3 encoder to encode the conversations in the mp3 format. A history is available that can be used to quickly play previously recorded Skype calls.

Skype Recorder is one of the few (maybe even the only) call recording software programs for Skype that offers automatic recording of calls. The program is compatible with the Microsoft Windows operating system and can be downloaded from the developer’s website.

The program provides access to a dozen filters ranging from Delay and Tremolo to Chorus and 3 Band EQ. While it is not currently able to change the voice in Skype to that of Darth Vader, or any other famous living, dead or fictional celebrity in this regard. Each filter can be configured separately by using the sliders that appear after the selection. The amount and function of the sliders depend on the selected filters. They usually range between 3 and 6 different sliders to change the frequency, length or delay.

Multiple filters can be combined with each other to use all their effects for the voice changing process. Skype Voice Changer is currently available for computer systems running Microsoft Windows. A version of the Microsoft .net Framework seems to be required to run the software although no details are given on the program’s homepage.
