You type in a song name, artist or any other information you got and Seeqpod displays results found on other Internet sites. Much like Google does but only for music and with the difference that a player is available on the result page that can play videos and music found that way.

Registered users can save the songs in playlists to play them again at a later time, there is no open way to download the music found directly.

Warner Bros. Records has decided to sue Seeqpod, an unlawful music service that directly engages in, encourages, and facilitates the mass infringement of Plaintiffs’ and other intellectual property owners’ copyrighted works.

Seeqpod on the other hand claims that they do not host files on their own server, merely linking to those files just like any other search engine which would mean that they would be protected under the DMCA’s “safe harbor” provision.

If you perform a search on Seeqpod today you will only get search results from websites like Youtube and Wikipedia. It seems that they filter all other search results at the moment. The Podcrawler is still showing newly found mp3 files directly and those can be played, but the search is not finding them anymore.

What do you think, are they infringing copyright ? If you think they do why ? If you don’t think they do, why ?

Add SeeqPod Webclip to iPhone or iPod Touch

iPhone

iPod

Mobiles

Music and Video

apple

iphone music

ipod touch

music

seeqpod
<guid

Pretty nice if you consider that most music can be found with SeeqPod.

What you need to do is point the browser to the seeqpod url and then click on the plus sign in the middle of the browser bar.

The bookmark menu should be shown, touch Add to your home screen which should add the icon of SeeqPod to the home screen.

MP3zy and others. Those websites are mp3 search engines that all use the same Seeqpod database to provide users with mp3 findings. The question however is why someone would want to use a copycat website instead of the original one especially if the original one offers way more options and functions ?

All you can do on the clone websites is to enter an artist name or song name and search for it. You get search results that show found songs and you can play or download those songs. If you choose to play a song it is loaded in a new window with a very basic player.

Seeqpod on the other side offers a playlist of songs that you have selected, repeat, shuffle, skip songs, change the volume, share playlists with friends, a video search and a discovery mode. We will most likely see more of these websites pop up in the near future and they surely will get coverage on some websites.

<span

It scans the Internet for songs, stores information in its database and provides the user with fast working results once a search is initiated. The program could not be easier to use. Just enter an artist and results are displayed after several seconds.

Each result occupies two rows displaying the artist name, song name and the options to Play and to Download the song. Songs are downloaded pretty fast, much faster actually than from P2P networks, because those downloads are coming right from websites who tend to deliver faster speeds normally.

The basic version of Songbeat is free and does not seem to have download limitations. The FAQ however did mention that the free version can be used to test the download function which seems to imply some sort of restrictions. If you encounter any let me know. Songbeat Basic is ad based which is not such a big problem, the ads are not that obtrusive.

Seeqpod offers two ways to find new and exciting music. The first is the so called PodCrawler which constantly displays songs that have been found and added to the database. From what I can tell they are crawling official band and company websites as well as podcasts and probably other websites as well.

If you click on the icon before the song title you add it to your playlist which can be saved, shared and embedded. Instead of trying out random finds you can also perform a search for an artist, band name or title and add those found to your playlist as well.

This means that is is relatively easy to build a large playlist with songs that you like and listen to them while online. The link to the song is displayed as well but not clickable by default.

There is however the possibility to use a program like Grab++ to grab the link and send it to a download manager such as Orbit downloader to download the song. I tested this method and it works perfectly.
