href="http://www.ghacks.net/2010/03/27/no-virus-thanks-is-a-virus-total-alternative/">No Virus Thanks? The two services allow anyone to upload files to check them in dozens of antivirus engines. That’s very handy considering that no antivirus software solution is yet offering a 100% protection against malicious software and viruses.

The developers of No Virus Thanks have created URLVoid which uses the same concept for website urls. Individual security applications like Kaspersky Internet Security or Norton Internet Security and browser add-ons like Web of Trust can scan websites for malicious code to protect the user from visiting the site.

The website virus checker URLVoid is a service for users who want to double-check specific urls before they visit the sites. It is also a handy service for webmasters who want to make sure that their websites are not in that list. Helpful for instance after a successful hacking attack against a website.

A website can be checked for viruses and other malicious code by entering its url into the form at the URL Void website. Copy and paste works best most of the times especially if its not a root domain that needs to be scanned.

URL Void processes the website and displays two informational blocks on the results page.

The first block lists general information about the website including its IP address, country it is hosted in and the hosting company that is hosting the website.

website information

The second block lists the scan results of the supported scripts. Included in the list are Web of Trust, Spamhaus, TrendMicro Web Reputation, Google Diagnostic and Norton SafeWeb among others.
<div

It basically monitors any website that you have added to it and informs you whenever a change has been made on the website. You may alter the change threshold so that you are not informed about minor changes on the website.

After installing the Update Checker extension you will see a new icon in your status bar. This icon will be gray if there are no updates and change its color if there are updates. A small balloon text will also be displayed right above the arrow.

There are two ways to add new sites that should be constantly monitored for changes. Right-click a website and select Scan Page for Update to add it to the list of monitored sites.

<img
src="http://www.ghacks.net/files/screens/2007/05/update3.jpg"alt="update checker firefox" />

The second option would be to click on the icon in the status bar which opens a sidebar with all the sites that are currently monitored. If you click on New Entry in that menu you have come to the same menu.

The url and the title of the web page are filled out automatically and you only need to decide about the Change Threshold and the time between Autoscans.

The Change Threshold can be set to recognize any changes on the website as an update or only recognize them if a certain character limit has been reached. (10,50,100,500 and 1000)

The Autoscan option defines the interval in which each website is checked for updates. The lowest value is 15 minutes while the highest is once per day / manual scan.

I personally like this extension. I use it to monitor websites that I visit often to see if they updated their pages. Especially great for blogs and sites like digg or delicious.
