Readburner looks like a mashup of Digg, Techmeme and Delicious somehow on first glance but it is actually something completely different. The website aggregates shared items from Google Reader displaying those that have been shared on their pages. The service lives under the assumption that quality news stories get shared while those with lesser quality do not.

RSS Feeds are probably the best option if you want to receive information about website updates. They arrive immediately after the webmaster has published the article on the website. There are two ways to process and view those RSS feeds. The first is to use one of the many online services that display news feeds that you add to your profile. I do use Netvibes but there is also Google Reader for that task and hundreds more.

Wow what a milestone. My blog finally reached 6000+ RSS readers for the first time which is an awesome milestone for me and verification of the progress of this blog in the last two years. I never thought that I would reach the 6000 users this quickly and I’m thankful for each and every user who is reading my articles in his RSS reader.

If you are looking for a desktop RSS feed reader for Windows, Mac or Mobile devices you might want to consider FeedDemon, NetNewsWire and NewsGatorGo who have been previously commercial applications but are not free to download and use. I did not pay much attention to commercial RSS feed readers before and I can’t honestly tell you much about the advantages of those products compared to their free counterparts.
I have been looking for a rss reader for quite some time that would display the latest feeds in a news ticker style known from television news channels such as CNN. I quickly found an interesting Czech freeware that would display all my rss feeds in a news ticker either at the top or at the bottom of my screen.
