Helvetireader is a minimal Google Reader interface theme supplied as a userscript that turns Google Reader into an optimized feed reader that is displaying only the essentials. It was especially designed to view feeds in the expanded view using keyboard shortcuts. A userscript compatible browser is needed for the new interface theme to work. Long [...]

Desktop RSS Reader Newzie
Switching from Google Reader to another RSS reader was no easy task. Google Reader provides a very good feed reading experience that is hard to top. The major problem I was facing with Google Reader was not really related to that RSS reader alone but more to the way the account data was handled by [...]

Personalized Desktop News Feeds
RSS Feeds are probably the best option if you want to receive information about website updates. They arrive immediately after the webmaster has published the article on the website. There are two ways to process and view those RSS feeds. The first is to use one of the many online services that display news feeds that you add to your profile. I do use Netvibes but there is also Google Reader for that task and hundreds more.

If you are looking for a desktop RSS feed reader for Windows, Mac or Mobile devices you might want to consider FeedDemon, NetNewsWire and NewsGatorGo who have been previously commercial applications but are not free to download and use. Receive Feed Updates in Skype, MSN, Google Talk or Email
Inezha is a new startup that offers a innovative way of receiving feed updates from your favorite websites. The feeds that you add to the service are delivered right to your Instant Messenger, Skype or Mail box which offers some practical uses. I have Skype enabled all the time usually which means it is more convenient to receive feed updates in Skype instead of opening Netvibes or Google Reader.
Fresh news from the root
I’ve been using Opera’s integrated RSS reader for a long time and it sure is a fine enhancement. But I still feel that it’s not so ultimate and it misses some things. Especially it’s interface could look a little better and have few more features. For example, in Opera you can’t display the news from all sources at once, well-arranged in a nice interface, instead you always have to click the source, read some news and then switch to the next one and so on. This is a little clumsy. However, Opera is mainly a great browser, not an RSS reader.
