Last.fm Announces Subscription Based Service
Web services like Last.fm are hard pressed to find ways to monetize their inventory to even come close to the bills for the server structure, administrative and development teams, bandwidth and everything else that is connected to their service. This is especially true for services that stream contents on their websites as this usually results in [...]
How To Record Internet Radio With AIMP2
Regular readers already know that I recently switched from using XMPlay to AIMP2 which provides the better total package. One of the interesting functions of AIMP2 is to record Internet radio (yes XMPlay can do that as well). It took a while to find out how this function could be enabled in the player and [...]
Save internet radio!
Today i discovered a independent online radio station which has owners that see radio as an art form and not a platform to turn out a endless stream of advertisement and mediocre music. At the moment they pay around 10-12% of their income in royalties for the music they play, which seems very reasonable to me.But the “US Copyright Board” has made a decision about online radio which will mean the end of Radio Paradise and many other online radio stations.
This new regulation means the stations have to pay not 10-12% but as much as 125% of their income in royalties.
So if they don’t have some huge advertisers behind them (which will lead to a music station with a lot of advertisement, thus leading to the opposite they want to the station to be) they will not be able to continue their work and passion.
If you want to read more about this issue visit Save our internet radio which is made by the owners of Radio Paradise and is a good source for more information.
Record Sounds from any source
While Audacity is a great audio editing utility with the ability to record sounds and edit them afterwards it still felt a little bit overweight for the mere taks of recording sounds fast on a computer. I found a freeware utility that can record sounds from any incoming source in various formats including ogg vorbis, monkey audio, mp3 and acm.
Record MP3 Streams with Screamer Radio
I recommended Phonostar some days ago to record mp3 streams of more than 4000 radio stations which had the big disadvantage that it would not add the real filename, title and artist but use a generic name for the saved mp3 stream. Screamer Radio on the other hand uses the meta data that is sent by some radio stations to add those information to the name of the saved mp3 file which makes it easier to get an overview over all downloads.
Record more than 4000 internet radio stations
If you are looking for an easy way to record internet radio stations look no further. Phonostar is a free radio player and recorder that comes preconfigured with more than 4000 radio stations. Phonostar tries to automatically determine the audio source that can be used to record songs and loads the interface afterwards. Top stations are selected and a double-click starts the playback of that station. Please note that all top stations seem to be in German, conduct a search for English stations.
