My four year old nephew likes to play jigsaw puzzles and I also began teaching him computer basics. He already knows how to move the mouse, click and drag objects and install Linux on a computer. (just kidding about the last one). He does very well and I thought it would be nice to play some jigsaw puzzles with him on the computer so that he would get used to mouse movement and ways of interacting with the screen and game.

The Jigetiser jigsaw puzzles display 18 different Christmas themed pictures and are available in five difficulties each. The first two difficulties use only a few big tiles and are perfect for children of age 4+ I think. The other three difficulties are for advanced users who have some time at their disposal. The tiles are smaller and of course there are more tiles.

The preview image will not be available on the last difficulty, all other difficulties show a preview image. Pieces are connected to each other by moving them next to each other. They can also be rotated clockwise by holding them with the left mouse button and pressing the right mouse button as well.

All 18 jigsaw puzzles offer family friendly pictures. The only distracting element is the advertisement on top and in the jigsaw puzzle itself. Still, the look and feel of this jigsaw puzzle game for the computer is very nice. And best of all, my nephew likes it.

You can move it into any adjacent space as long as it is not occupied by another room. If you take the image above you could move the room that the character is in only to the right side. Moving the character offers more possibilities. You can climb ladders, teleport Matrix-like using phones and use objects like keys to open doors that block the exit.

Rooms can be downloaded to play offline or played on the web. I suggest to download the full version which has a size of 30 megabytes. Great addictive game.

Sudoku is a addictive puzzle game which became popular in Europe just a few years ago. The goal is to fill the nine 3×3 grids with the numbers of 1 to 9 each and exclusively for the whole row and column. The concept itself is pretty simple but there are various difficulty levels that make it quite a challenge.

You may solve the easy levels by simply eliminating all other possibilities but this is not possible in hard or impossible mode. You start with fewer numbers in the grids and have to think around the corner to make it. Quite a challenge. Portable Sudoku does not require installation and can be stored on an usb stick for instance.

The game is automatically saved when you exit it and it has some modes that make life just a bit easier. Check mode checks the numbers that you have entered thus far. Solve game on the other hand solves the complete game which could be nice if you are stuck and can’t continue on your own. The download is only 400k in size and available for windows.
