Proxies come and go that quickly that one could say it is nearly impossible to keep up unless someone would use scripts to check the web proxies automatically. The web proxy server list posted on Ghacks dates back two years and the main reason it was not updated is the fact that updating the servers would have to be done dynamically to provide visitors with a working list of proxy servers.

That is probably the same line of thought that the developer of Prime Proxies had when he created his website. The website publishes an up to date list of working web proxy servers which are checked regularly so that the chance of encountering a non working proxy server is slim.

Proxies are divided into three categories that are named after the proxy script that is being used on the proxy websites. The three main scripts are PHP Proxy, CGI Proxy and Glyph. Some proxy scripts work better on specific websites than others and it comes down to finding the web proxy server script that displays the favorite websites properly.

The Prime Proxies database contains a list of more than 2300 working and 5000 dead proxy servers. That should be enough for everyone to find a web proxy server that is working and not banned at the location that you are accessing the Internet.

Select a country for your proxy

Hacking

Security

The Web

internet

proxy

proxy list

proxy sites

web proxy
<guid

They use the same four of five proxy scripts that are available, may have a different design and tend to disappear after 1-12 months. Worldproxy added an interesting new feature to it’s proxy: Country selection. Many multimedia services, like streaming Internet radio or video, are limited to users of a specific country by the service provider and proxies are one of the ways to beat the protection to be able to view the contents of the website from a country that is normally not allowed to view them.

Worldproxy (via Technospot) makes use of that by offering its visitors a country based proxy map. Currently only three countries are available: United States, Canada and Great Britain. The United States proxy is currently not working, the other two are working fine and it is probably just a glitch that the US proxy is not working right now.

Proxy selection by country is unfortunately the only new aspect of that proxy website. It does come with a toolbar that can be used to quickly switch between different country proxies but I normally do not install toolbars because they tend to take away screen space.

Users can suggest new countries which means that it is likely that other countries will be added to the map in future updates. The proxy obviously can be used for different things as well. It is for instance possible to check ads that are running on your website when a visitor of a certain country visits it.

Free Web Proxy List, Custom Proxy Server Guide

Security

proxy

proxy list

proxy server

web proxy
<guid

Schools and companies tend to block sites pretty quickly nowadays. It is especially irritating when the ban is directed towards just a few websites and not every website in that category. A Web Proxy might be able to sneak past this policies and display the site in your browser even though it is banned in the network.

How does a web proxy work ?

A network bans a website either by its IP, its name or part of its name. A web proxy makes only shows its own address to the network and not the actual destination of the user. The admin of the network will think everything is fine and you are free to reach the site that is banned. The only thing that might happen is that the admin is banning the web proxy as well, but this is not a big deal either. Hundreds of web proxies exist, just switch to a new one and you are ready to visit the banned site again.

Setup your own Web Proxy Server:

Let us assume that all proxy websites have been banned in your network, you can´t find a single web proxy that is still working. Your best choice is to create your own web proxy at an address that only you know. All you need is the php web proxy proxy and some webspace with php to upload it to. Search Google for free webspace php and you should find some hosts that allow you to use php and upload your web proxy to them.

You can alternatively use a cgi web proxy which needs a webspace with cgi enabled.
Web Proxy List:

Please not that the list does not display if the webproxy is able to handle scripts, I did not find a reliable way to make a test for all languages out there, therefor this has not been added to the list. I also removed websites that loaded slowly, displayed errors or forced you to click on an ad before you could use the service.

It is most likely that the name “proxy” might have been banned as well, try using web proxies that do not have proxy i their url, this might help.

Free Web Proxy List

<a

For now, I post a list of new and relatively unknown proxy sites that should work for most people. If they are not working I suggest you setup a proxy on your own at a free domain hosting service that allows php or cgi. You should probably rename the files accordingly because it could be that the proxy scripts per se have been banned and not only the domains / ips that host the scripts.

An extensive list of web proxies can be found by following the link to my latest post about web proxies.

The proxy sites are all not working anymore. This is often the case with proxy sites as most tend to come and go rather quickly. There are only a few popular services that manage to stay on top of the game over the years.

Some of those proxy sites include the following services:

Proxify – A free web proxy based on CGI Proxy. It supports SSL sites, can remove cookies, scripts and ads.

Hide My Ass – Another popular and long standing proxy service. It can be used for anonymous surfing and other activities. It displays ads on the proxified pages.

Those two proxy sites are just two examples. You can also head over to proxy list sites that offer up to date proxy site listings. Here are again two examples of general proxy sites that link to hundreds of existing web proxies.

The first site is proxy.org, a long standing web proxy directory. It lists at the time of writing more than two thousand web proxies conveniently stored in a web form on the main page.

The other site that you can use for regularly updated proxy lists is proxysites.net which also offers a nice listing of free proxy sites.

Web Proxy List January 2006

Browsing

proxy

proxy list

web proxy
<guid

Some countries, for example china, Iran and Germany, ban certain websites and you can´t view them using your normal internet connection. A proxy on the other hand could be able to display the website correctly and you receive all the information you want to access.

Another possible scenario is that your school or company blocks sites like eBay or your mail account and you desperately need to access it. A web proxy could help in this case too.

A third and final example would be that you don´t want to show your real ip to a website that you are visiting. You work for company A and use the companies internet connection to browse the website of company B, it´s sometimes better to not reveal where you come from.

You can also watch and download videos from Google Video if you are using a web proxy from a country that is allowed to view and download them.

Lets start with the list. I decided to display the following information:

Name: pretty obvious, isn´t it ?
Anonymous: If the proxy spills your ip or not.
Popups: Normal Advertisement is not that annoying, but popup ads are.

Please not that the list does not display if the web proxy is able to handle scripts, I did not find a reliable way to make a test for all languages out there, therefor this has not been added to the list. I also removed websites that loaded slowly, displayed errors or forced you to click on an ad before you could use the service.

Web Proxy List January 2006

<tr

You can use them to hide your own ip when you navigate to a site that should not have your IP in their logs. You can use them to
bypass web restrictions / censorship from schools, universities and business and also use them if your country is one of those that likes to prevent its people from collection information on their own.

The proxylist is divided into the following categories: Secure means its possible to use a SSL with this web proxy, normal means no SSL but does not spill your ip of course. The others are pretty self explanatory, if you have questions feel free to ask and I will answer them asap.

I will compile a new list each month, check back regularly if you are looking for additional webproxies. Feel free to add proxies that you know of in the comments, they will be included with the next update

<span

A new free online proxy site opened up its gate. You can use it to bypass restrictions at school or work for example. (e.g. filtered sites) Unfortunately its named Hide my ass which might be banned as well from work or school.

Try it out and see for yourself: hidemyass.com

Online Proxy Servers – Now Countless

Granted, online privacy is an issue that has been controversial for some time and we deserve privacy on many levels. The invasion of our personal activities by outside observers is something that many users have taken to the level of creating intricate personal security systems. It is a fact that government restrictions are increasing exponentially. The struggle of the computer user to maintain this privacy is more than noble; it is duty in a certain sense. However, the point of this article is not to discuss rights or restrictions. The fact that there are so many online proxy services is a curiosity. Why such a great number? This is a rhetorical question in a sense, but is does beg answers and it is certain that users will respond.

Infoblox is just one example of online proxy servers. In fact, it is an example of a host of other similar servers. You can use this to your advantage however you see fit. When you are concerned about your security as you browse the internet and engage yourself with various websites for whatever reason, a proxy server is one of your better solutions. Think about a proxy server as a diplomat. A proxy server is like a shield that allows you to view a site and keep your ISP’s nose out of at least most of your personal business. Keep in mind that your access to the proxy server will be recorded by your ISP, but it is possible to overstep what they are actually able to capture when you use such a server.

This is for purposes of privacy and should be used only as such. You should be able to access any information that you wish and not have the concern that your ISP is going to send you an email or a letter that makes you nervous. It happens all of the time and it is simply wrong. On the other hand, to us proxy servers as a means to spread malware and steal information is a misuse of the services. Proxy servers can be used to protect against hackers and this is a good thing, but hackers also know how to leverage this to their advantage.

As proposed in the original posting on this topic, has anyone noticed how many of these servers there are? Just take a look at this:

That is just a few. On a search timed over a five minute period, almost one thousand proxy servers were identified. Many of them are malicious. What you need to know as a user is that you can use these servers to your advantage, but pleas be cautious. Use Web of Trust (WOT) to begin with and see what other users have to say about the server you will be using. Be sure to monitor your ADS and check on what ports are being accessed. You can have a good experience with using proxy servers, just as many have. The thing you need to do is “watch your virtual back.” Good luck and enjoy happy, private browsing.
