Print Photos On Multiple Sheets With Poster It

Most image viewers and even the standard Windows print option comes with options to print photos and images on multiple sheets. Only a few offer the functionality that Poster It offers. The program did not work properly on a 64-bit edition of Windows 7. I cannot verify if it will work with other 64-bit operating systems or if this is a general issue. It did work as expected on a Windows 8 Developer Preview version.

The first task after starting the program is to load a photo via the load image button. The selected image is automatically displayed in the program window afterwards. The default selection displays split lines that indicate the beginning of a new sheet. You can disable that feature in the options on the right. The lines will not be included in the printout.

The program will print the image size by default which prints the image the native resolution and DPI of the image and printer.

Options under print mode can be used to change that to fit to page (which would print out one sheet of paper with the full image on it), stretch to page (which does the same but stretches the image to fill the whole sheet that is printed) or pixel to pixel which prints the image in the printer resolution.

Only Image size allows the image to be printed on multiple pages. Scale can be used to better fit the image on a certain number of papers.

It is suggested to click on the Preview button first for a preview of how the printed image will look like. You can click on Print when you are satisfied to start the print job.

Poster It is a simple program best suited for quickly printing out photos and other images on multiple pages. The program felt a bit laggy at times, especially after loading an image into the program and after switching print modes.

Windows users can download the program from the developer website. The software is free to use for non-commercial purposes.

Christmas is only seven days away and it becomes harder to find presents for your loved ones that do arrive in time and are personal at the same time. Sure, you could hop into the next store on Saturday and make a quick purchase just to have something but that’s not how it should be. Money is also playing a role here – a limited budget does not make it easier to find something special.

I’m going to write about three computer programs / scripts that are going to help you create a great Christmas gift. I think that those methods work best for presents for people that you really care about: close relatives, partners and children for example. All you need besides those programs is some time, a printer and a picture or video of something that the recipient likes. Let us start..

Create a Poster from an Image

You only need a picture that would make a great poster. Download PosteRazor and run it. Select the picture on your computer, specify the output size and a pdf file will be created that contains a number of pages that are the poster. Print those pages and you have a great personal gift. Use large images for best results. Available for Windows, Mac and as source code.

Create huge rasterized images from any picture

PosteRazor is cute but has limitations. If you want huge, and I mean huge, outputs that can decorate a wall in complete width you need to use the online script Rasterbator. The output looks really incredible, please note that it is up to you if you want to define borders in the final picture. You may also download an offline version which does not have the size and resolution limitations of the online script.

Create a Flipbook

Flipbooks are great gifts especially for children (and women). All you need is Flipbook Printer created by my friend mouser from donationcoder. You obviously need a movie for this to work. Just load the movie, define start and end and let the program do the rest. All that is left to do is to print the results and join the results together.

Create huge rasterized images from pictures

Every wanted to create a huge poster from a relative small image that you had on your computer ? Or are you looking for a great gift idea for Christmas for someone you like ? Rasterbator creates huge rasterized images from pictures that you either upload from your computer or select from a website. You may create those images online or download the software and use it that way. Take a look at two examples that I have selected from the Rasterbator gallery.

Once you have uploaded an image to the online script you may crop it and select the output size of the rasterized image by simply moving a slider into the exact position you want it to be. An information will tell you how many sheets of paper you need for the size that you have selected. Once you are satisfied with the size you may further customize the results by adding a border to it, selecting the dot size and selecting whether you would like a black and white image, a custom color image or a multi color image.

Once that is done you are set to go. The image will be processed and a pdf file will be created. Make sure you follow the directions of the developer when you print the pdf:

When printing the image with Adobe Reader, choose Page scaling: Fit to Printer Margins at the options window that comes up (Fit to Paper in older versions). If you chose horizontal paper alignment, also make sure Auto-Rotate and Center is selected. Most printers cannot print to the margins of the paper – these settings ensure that all the images will be completely printed.
