Ingame advertising will become more common in the next years. One of the first games that makes extensive use of ingame advertisement is EA Games Battlefield 2142. Once connected to the server it displays ads in the game that are displayed by a calculation of variables like your geolocation or time you did spend looking at an ad.

I did ask about your secret folder in last weeks poll and surprisingly the majority declined to have one. 38% of all voters said that they do not have a secret folder for files that only they care about which leads to the question why. Do they live alone and don’t have to hide everything in a folder because there is no girlfriend / boyfriend snooping around ? 23% said that their secret folder was bigger than 10 gigabytes which is huge.

Have you ever played Singstar on the Playstation 2 ? It is a Karaoke like game that is great fun if you play it with some friends. Ultrastar looks clearly like it was inspired by Singstar. The big advantage ? It is completely free and offers many texts for songs on various websites on the internet. You need to download the Ultrastar main program from Sourceforge at the beginning, it is only 500k which means it should be a fast download even for slow connections.

Some of you probably remember the 1991 classic Another World which was released on the Amiga system among others. I loved the game, it had fantastic animation and graphics for the time and it played just fine. Was pretty hard as well but I probably was not that good at playing games at that time. The game was using vector graphics and someone decided that it would be a nice idea to scale the vectors to offer a high res version of the game. You can see and download the results at the another world fanpage. Downloads are only available for pc but that should not be a problem for most. (with the amiga system being nearly dead and all)

A study conducted by Professor Martin Gill of the University of Leicester came to the conclusion that second hand computers pose a great risk of fraud and identity theft. They purchased six computers in the course of their study from various second hand channels. Six computers may not seem to justify the results but it can be seen as an indicator. Half of them had not been securely wiped while one had not been wiped at all. Two of the three contained enough information for identity theft.
