Opera Link synchronizes bookmarks, notes, the browser history and a few settings between browsers if the same Opera Link account is configured properly.

Not everyone wants to use Opera Link on the other hand. The two main concerns are the required account and that not all the data is synchronized between Opera browsers when using Opera Link.

The Opera Settings Import & Export Tool is a manual alternative to Opera Link. It can export and import the majority – if not all – profile settings of the Opera web browser. This includes bookmarks, preferences, widgets, saved sessions, contacts, logins, toolbar setups, skins and mouse setups among other settings.

The portable software program displays options to export Opera settings to an archive or import previously exported settings into Opera.

It will automatically scan the computer for Opera profiles if data export has been selected and display the discovered profiles in a list with the option to browse the computer to pick a profile manually. This is handy for portable versions of Opera.

Opera settings are then populated with a preview of the selected item on the right side. Here it is possible to select some or all of the items to include in the exported Opera archive.

The archive of the profile settings is stored as a compressed gz file. This file needs to be selected during imports to import the profile data.

Another interesting feature during imports is that the ini paths are corrected automatically so that they work without problems on the new Pc as well.

The Opera Settings Import & Export Tool is available for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. <del

Backup tools can be divided into general backup software that backup all files and folders that a user wants to backup and specialized backup programs that backup specific software or files.

Opera Backup is a specific tool as it can be used to backup the Opera 10 web browser. The program interface is in English but the help file and developer website is not which makes it a bit complicated to configure. From what we could gather the backup process is driven by a file called backup.ini which defines what will be backed up and what will be excluded from the backup.

Besides the option to edit the backup.ini directly the different elements can also be selected by clicking in the Items button.

Both the backup and restore backup option are available in the same interface with backup being selected by default. A click on Restore backup will open a file browser to restore a previously created Opera backup.

All installed Opera versions can be selected in the second step. The installed widgets can also be selected for backup. Users with portable Opera browsers can use the define folders option to pick and backup these browsers as well.

Backups are compressed by default as ob, zip or 7z files. The compression ratio can be changed in the file menu at the top of the backup software.

Opera Backup can be downloaded from the developer’s website. It is compatible with Opera 10 only and can be installed on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 computer systems.

An alternative to Opera Backup is the multi-browser backup software FavBackup which can also be used to backup Opera as well as other browsers.

Web Browser Backup Software FavBackup Updated

Browsing

Firefox

Google Chrome

Internet Explorer

Opera

backup software

explorer++

favbackup

firefox backup

google chrome backup

internet

Internet Explorer Backup

opera backup

portable software

web browser

web browser backup

windows software
<guid

The program was easy to use and supported most major web browsers. Some things were not perfect like missing support for custom or multiple user profiles, portable browser support or the disk and computer memory usage during backup jobs. The developer of FavBackup has recently upgraded the backup software to version 2 which addresses most of the issues that users had with the software.

The jump to version 2 of the web browser backup software brings support for Opera 10 and Flock 2.5 (next to the already existing support for Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 2.9 to Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome 1 to Google Chrome 4, Safari 3 and 4, Opera 9 and Flock 3). This should cover the most used web browsers in the Windows operating system.

One of the great additions in FavBackup 2 is support for portable web browsers. It is now possible to select a custom location for the user profile for Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Safari and Flock. It is furthermore possible to select any of the identified profiles of the supported web browsers directly.

<img

The new additions make FavBackup 2 a recommended program for web browser backups, especially if multiple different web browsers are installed and used in a computing environment.

Opera Backup

Browsing

Opera

opera backup

opera browser

opera launcher

opera-tips

web browser

Tamil over at the Opera website. The software program is a launcher for Opera with additional options that could make it useful for many Opera users. The main use of the launcher is to create an Opera backup. It can backup Opera bookmarks, notes and sessions with data stamp.

Both the bookmarks and notes will be backed up in the Opera profile directory in the newly created backups directory. Windows users find the Opera profile folder in the hidden Application Data folder of their user profile.

Opera launcher has a few additional options that can be checked. It can disable the crash startup dialog and delete the quick find search history. The small tool has to be placed inside the main Opera directory. The easiest way to work with the program is to create a shortcut to the launcher and place it in the start menu or or on the computer desktop.

<span
