Qtrax hype has reached a climax yesterday with reviews on many blogs and websites. The funny thing about this is that the client was not officially available yet and either all those reviewers had beta access or were simply using press material issued by Qtrax to review the service. I’m really fond of XMPlay which is in my opinion the best software music player. I normally do not even look at other music players except if they offer something different, unique which I have to investigate. ALSong is one of those music players that comes with a feature that sounds interesting enough.

You might be puzzled at first if you encounter an audio file with the ape extension for the first time. Trying to play it in Winamp, Windows Media Player and XMPlay will not be successful, in fact, the song will not be loaded at all. The Ape file format is a lossless compression format of the compressor Monkey’s Audio.
