Convert Videos Into Executables

If you want to send a video to computer users with limited technical knowledge you usually have to consider that they might not be able to play it if you send it in a video format that is not supported by default by their operating system. There are three possibilities for this situation. Number one [...]

SMPlayer 0.6.7 out

My favorite and default video player SMPlayer has been updated to version 0.6.7 today. SMPlayer is the complete video player solution for both the Windows and Linux operating system. It is basically a frontend for the much acclaimed MPlayer that is included in the distribution. SMPlayer comes both as a portable video player but also [...]

SMPlayer Portable

Now look at that. Brad Linder over at the Download Squad discovered a portable version of my favorite media player SMPlayer. SMPlayer itself is a frontend for the highly popular MPlayer which can play most media formats right of the box. It’s a multi-plattform player available for Windows and Linux. Use MPUI as a Portable Media Player

When it comes to media players, there’s no doubt in my mind that Mplayer is head and shoulders above the rest. In fact, I think it’s even better than VLC. The only drawback is that Mplayer is primarily a Linux player, which means it depends on command line instructions.
Luckily, there are a whole lot of [...]

SMPlayer 0.5.51

A new version of the – in my opinion – best media player SMPlayer has been released and can be downloaded from the website of the developers at Sourceforge. SMPlayer is a Mplayer frontend that plays most video codecs out of the box which means that you do not have to install codecs to play the majority of video – and audio – formats. It does play for instance Apple Quicktime .mov videos without the need to install Quicktime at all.
