It’s usually a good idea to remove old attachments regularly from the email program to free up space that might be needed elsewhere.

The Microsoft Outlook Attachment Extractor is a small software program for the Windows operating system that can extract and remove email attachments from selected Microsoft Outlook folders. Extracting in this case simply means to save the attachments of a selected Outlook folder to another location on the computer system. Removing on the other hand means that the attachments will get unlinked from the email messages which will free up the space on the hard drive that the Outlook mails and profiles reside on.

This does not have to mean that the attachment cannot be opened from the email anymore. It is possible to remove the attachment from the Outlook folder completely, to replace it with a link pointing to the new location of the files or to replace it with a text reference in the email attachment.

Several options are available to configure the process in detail. It is for example possible to only process attachments that have a specific extension or those that are larger than a certain file size. The destination folder for the attachments can be selected as well as rules on how to process already existing files.

The Outlook Attachment Remover can also be used to add the removed attachments to the email messages again at a later point if the need arises.

Hotmail POP3 Configuration

Email

hotmail

hotmail desktop email

hotmail email

hotmail outlook

hotmail pop3

hotmail pop3 access

hotmail smtp

hotmail thunderbird

microsoft

microsoft email
<guid

This essentially means that it is now possible to configure desktop email clients to access Hotmail to retrieve and send emails using the email provider. We already mentioned how to configure Hotmail POP3 but in a slightly different context as the article back then concentrated on providing information on how to enable POP3 access for all countries.

Here are the information that have to be entered into the desktop email software so that Hotmail can be accessed:

Incoming Server: pop3.live.com

Incoming Port: 995

SSL Encryption: yes

Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com

Outgoing port: 25 (use port 587 if the default port is not working)

Authentication: yes

TLS Or SSL: yes

Please note that the names might differ depending on the desktop email client in use. The values on the other hand do not change. The username (usually the Windows Live Hotmail email address) and password are the same that are used when logging into the Hotmail website using a web browser.

There is no need for configuration of POP3 on the Hotmail website. This is a difference to how Gmail is handling external access as it has to be explicitly activated in the email web interface before it is possible to access a Gmail account using POP3 or SMTP.

Microsoft Outlook Express Viewer

Software

Windows

Email

email client

email reader

email viewer

microsoft email

microsoft outlook

microsoft outlook express

outlook express viewer

portable software

windows software
<guid

One could say that it is also possible to do the same with Microsoft Outlook and that the Outlook Express Viewer is not really needed for that. That’s however only partially correct.

It is indeed possible to import those mail database files into email clients. It does not really have to be Microsoft Outlook, other email clients will work fine as well. The advantage of Outlook Express Viewer is that it is a portable software that can display the contents immediately.

Just point it at a email database file to load it into the software program. It is then possible to browse through the emails immediately. This procedure leaves no traces on the host system while an import in an installed email client would.

<span

Attachments can be saved to the hard drive and emails can be exported into eml format which can be read by most email clients.

Outlook Express Viewer is working on all Microsoft operating systems since Windows 95 including Windows XP and Windows Vista.
