I recently ran into troubles with music for a video. The video had a playtime of 14 minutes which meant that I had to merge multiple audio files to reach that playing time. I first tried my luck by merging mp3 files and loading them into VirtualDub, but that turned out to be problematic because of error messages (error initializing audio stream compression). After some investigating I figured out that wav was a much better and accepted format than mp3. The task was clear now. Find a program that can merge mp3 files (the source format of the music) and save the merged single audio file as wav.

The free audio editing software Audacity can do that, and a lot more. For the purpose of this tutorial I’m going to stick to the basics.

Download Audacity from the developer website.

Start Audacity after installation. You can drag and drop audio files like mp3 or wav into the program interface, or use the File > Open dialog to do that. Files that you drag and drop into the interface appear in the same window, audio files that you load via File > Open appear in their own windows.

<img

You can alternatively select only part of the track. I suggest you use the play button to pinpoint the start and end locations of the track.

With the track in the clipboard left click on the location of the other track where you want to paste your music into. If you just want to merge, click the position at the very end of the track and press Ctrl-V to add the music there. You can select any other position if you prefer that.

Repeat that process until you have have all audio files merged in one track. Close all but this one track before selecting File > Export to save the newly merged audio file. You can save the audio as mp3, wav, flac, ac3 and several other formats.

Is there an easier way to merge multiple mp3 files and save them as a single audio wav file? Let me know in the comments.

Merge Mp3

Music and Video

Software

Windows

join mp3

merge mp3

merging mp3

mp3

portable software

windows software
<guid

This happened during the review of DVD Slideshow Gui which is an excellent tool for creating DVD photo slideshows. The problem that I encountered during the review was that the program only allowed only one mp3 file for the background music of the photo slideshow. That’s problematic if you add many photos and only one song that might be finished playing after a few minutes while the photos continue to be displayed.

I needed a software program to merge mp3 to be able to have enough music for all the photos that would be displayed in the DVD slideshow.

Merge Mp3 is a free and portable software program for the Windows operating system that can do exactly that. Mp3 can be dragged and dropped into the application’s interface or selected through the file browser. It is also possible to specify folders or playlists to add and merge their mp3.

The order of the mp3 can be changed in the interface in case it needs to be. Basic controls for playing the added mp3 files are available. As are options to add ID3 tags for the new merged mp3. The biggest benefit of Merge Mp3 is its simplicity. It takes less than a minute to select the mp3 and join them. There are additional options where merging mp3 might make sense. This includes merging all chapters of an audiobook or the tracks of a ripped CD.

Merge Mp3 is compatible with Windows and <a

Mp3 files but also files with the ogg extension can be concatenated easily because of the way the data is structured. The following command line argument will not work with many other file types like those created by Microsoft Office.

Only one line of code is needed to join multiple mp3 files:
copy /b *.mp3 c:\new.mp3
. That’s all there is needed. The /b parameter ensures that the files are copied in binary format. *.mp3 defines the source directory of the files. You can easily add a drive and folder structure in front. The wildcard * defines that all mp3 will be joined alphanumerically by the command. It is possible to limit the files by adding letters or numbers to the command, e.g. m*.mp3 to join all mp3 starting with the letter m.

The last part c:\mp3 defines the target directory for the newly created file as well as its name. A possibility to join files with different filenames is also available. Simply use the command copy /b file1.mp3 + aaa.mp3 + r3f.mp3 c:\new.mp3 for this. You may use wildcards as well for the process.

Several applications like Audacity can also be used to merge music files. Mp3 Direct Cut is another one for the purpose.
