The tool has been designed for visually impaired users and not so much for use in presentations. It is nevertheless a handy shortcut especially if you sometimes encounter screen contents that are hard to read or to distinguish.

AeroZoom is a lightweight Autohotkey program that turns the Magnifier application of Windows 7 into a program that can become useful during presentations as well.

The program adds a series of mouse only controls to the Magnifier including the ability to zoom in and out by left-clicking and using the mouse wheel. That alone is a handy feature as it allows users to control the magnifier only with the mouse.

<span

Its control panel can be opened by pressing the left and right mouse buttons at the same time. This opens a list of buttons that can be used to change the state of specific features of the Windows 7 Magnifier including colors, mouse, keyboard and text states.

offered as a right-hand and left-hand version. Especially the ability to control the zooming with just one hand and the computer mouse is worth noting. The program works best with a wireless mouse as it can be used from further away during the presentation. The lefthand versions of the software program are stored in the same program directory.

It is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system. (via One Loupe is a tiny 22 Kilobyte software that can magnify parts of the screen upon execution. The program is fully portable and requires no installation on the system. Magnifying the screen can be a good choice if the text, images or other elements are to small to be identified properly. If you ever tried to solve the Rapidshare captcha you know what I mean.

The most important feature of a magnifier is accessibility and that’s an area where One Loupe unfortunately fails. It can only be executed by clicking on the program icon. The only other way that I could think of to make it more accessible was to create a shortcut to the program and assign a keyboard shortcut to it.

It’s not that of a problem though. Once executed a rectangle will be shown that can be moved with the mouse. The mouse-wheel increases or decreases the zoom range and the arrow keys change the size of it.

<span

That’s an excellent way to create screenshots for articles like this one.
