Firefox Live Chat Support

Where do you go if you have a problem with Firefox ? I normally research the problem and try to find a solution for it on my own. There is one more possibility that the Mozilla team recently has established and that is Firefox Live Chat Support. You can get into contact with a volunteer who is trying to help you solve the problem that you are experiencing.

Reveal the domain owner and hoster of a domain

I know that you can literally use hundreds of scripts that lookup a domain name or IP and display information about that domain or IP. Most of those sites are rather slow and / or have so much advertisement on their websites that I prefer to use WhosIP from Nirsoft when I quickly want to lookup an IP.

Internet on the go

The problem with the net is that there isn’t a sure-fire way to ensure that you will actually have access to it anywhere. If you have Wi-fi you are quite well of, but of course only near cities and towns. Even then, if you find hotspots you’re fine, but otherwise no internet for you.

Grab Text from all Files in a Directory

The title of this article might be a little confusing at first glance. Why would someone want to scan files in a directory for certain strings and output them in a new file ? Few ideas come to my mind why this could be useful. Imagine that you were surfing a website with lots of images that you liked very much. You could download those images manually or use the software Win Text File Patch to scan all files in your browsers cache for a certain string and output them in a new file.

Unlimited means no restrictions

That is at least the definition by us common folks who are happy to get an unlimited plan – be it Internet or mobile phone – only to find out that the fine prints are detailing lots of exclusions that turn the advertised unlimited plan into a limited one. I’m not a marketing expert nor a lawyer but this does look fishy to me.

Uptime Checker for Firefox

We have all made the experience in the past that many websites are not available all the time. A website that got on Digg’s homepage or slashdotted might have went down pretty fast which is unfortunately if you want to read what the buzz that it created was all about. I normally bookmark those websites and visit them again later to see if the website is available again. If it is not I try it a few more times and if it is not up at that point I either forget about it or delete the bookmark.

Filezilla FTP Client

I have been working with the ftp client Filezilla for some time now and switched to release candidate three of the new and upcoming Filezilla 3 just recently. I have to use ftp clients on a daily basis to upload files to my websites and edit php and html files that are already on them. They are indeed useful for webmasters but on a decline when you take a look at all Internet users – my opinion but supported by the fact that most modern browsers support ftp downloads as well.
