Streamripper was released in a new version today and I would like to use the opportunity to explain how you can save Internet Radio tracks using Streamripper. You actually do not need another software to accomplish this because Streamripper can be used from the Windows command line. Lets say you almost need no other software [...]

Global Pandora down
Global Pandora was a great service while it did last. Users from outside the United States where able to listen to Pandora, the Internet Radio that would create music stations based on artists or songs that you like. The Music Industry made the decision to block access to Pandora for all users from outside the United States although most users reported that they discovered new music that they found interesting and that the majority actually bought music they discovered at Pandora.

Save Last.fm music
The Last Ripper has been released in a new version. The software can be used to save Last.fm music and requires a Last.fm username. The usability and interface has been changed a lot in this new version. The first change is probably the most important one: Users can now search and create Last.fm playlists inside the program instead of copying and pasting urls from Last.fm into The Last Ripper.

Create your own Internet Radio Streams
Meemix reminds me a lot of Pandora. It’s a music recommendation service that finds related artists and tracks from information that you enter. Once the first artist was found that you have entered additional artists and tracks are played once the song finishes or you click the next track button.

Access Pandora without a proxy
Pandora is a music service only available to users from the United States that is creating radio stations starting with an artist or song the user recommends and adding related artists and songs to that. It was free for everyone some time ago but due to rights issues it was restricted.

The best way to record Internet Radio streams
I don’t want to make a big fuss about it. I tried lots of softwares that record Internet Radio streams and found one that was the perfect fit for my situation. I prefer a software that would function as my main music player and be able to record Internet Radio streams over a software that would have the ability to record the streams but that I would never use to listen to music.

Tune in with Tun3r
While I love Internet Radio streams I sometimes find it hard to find a station that plays the kind of music I want to listen to right now. I do have some regular stations that I normally listen to but when I want to listen to something else I have to search shoutcast and tune in into several stations to find the one that is playing music I like to hear.

Access Pandora from outside the USA
Pandora stopped their Music Genome Project from streaming to clients that would access the Pandora website from outside the United States yesterday. They are now checking the IP of every visitor and depending on his location he is either presented with the normal Pandora website or a letter which explains the situation that he is not allowed to use Pandora due to licensing difficulties. Internet Radio should be accessible from anywhere, just like normal radio that does not know boundaries as well.
