Supported are many popular Instant Messenger networks like MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, AIM and ICQ.

The Imo.im team was rather busy since my last review of the service and has added two additional services. The first is the addition of Skype. The user can login using his Skype user data and will see a tab with his buddies and their status. He can chat with his buddies and even call them without difficulties. That feature is both available in the web client and the local software program that is downloaded to the computer.

The only restriction is currently that outbound calls are not supported. The second addition is that of MySypace IM. If I’m honest I did not even know that something like MySpace IM existed until I found the reference at the Imo.im website.

It looks like Skype with a MySpace plugin. Still, if anyone uses that he can also use that at Imo.im. I really like the Skype addition, mainly because Skype is the only service that I use regularly from the ones that are supported. Could be handy to use it to make a quick call or write a message to a friend.

Imo.im lets you connect to the following four popular instant messengers: AIM, Yahoo, MSN and Google Talk. The service that Imo.im offers is free and easy to use. Just enter your username and password and select the service that you want to log in to. It is possible to sign on into more than one account at a time. By using the Link Accounts feature you can link those accounts which would have the results that once you log into one account all other accounts will be available as well without logging into them separately.

imo.im instant messenger interface websiteImo.im offers one more feature that separates it from other websites that let you log into your instant messenger. The so called Group Chat feature lets you invite buddies from all four instant messengers that are currently supported. This way you can chat with everyone even if they do use a different instant messenger. Buddies do not have to sign into Imo.im to use the group chat feature. This would only be necessary if they wanted to invite other users by themselves.

I personally think that Imo.im is already a great alternative to Meebo, especially if Meebo has been banned from your network. This new service is surely to new to be banned as well which makes it an excellent opportunity to use instant messenger services. Imo.im is still a early alpha but already working fine in my opinion.
