The software program works with all web browsers unlike the Firefox add-on Image Host Grabber which we reviewed earlier today. Using Neo Downloader is a very simple process. The program will display an always on top icon on the desktop that can be used to add urls into the application. The easiest way to do that is by dragging and dropping those urls on the icon.

The image downloader will then display a project wizard that allows the user to configure the image download. It is here for example possible to set the local download directory, the internal and external scan depth and image filters so that images below a certain size or resolution are ignored in the downloads.

<span

The lite version does come with several restrictions like only being able to download jpg files or a maximum of two open connections at the same time. It should however be sufficient for most users even though the downloads will take a bit longer than in the paid version.

Neo Downloader supports four different download modes. It is possible to download single or multiple galleries, all pictures from the entire website or images from so called TGP sites. The image download software can be downloaded at the developer’s website. Users who want more control over the downloads might want to check out the alternative Httrack instead which is slightly more complicated to use.

Desktop Image Search

Software

Windows

desktop image search

desktop search

deviantart

download-images

facebook

flickr

image download

image search

photo download

photo search

photobucket

smugmug

windows software

Instant Fundas) is a desktop image search application that provides an easy to use interface to search for images on various websites and even local pictures. The image search supports sites like Flickr, Facebook, Deviant Art, SmugMug, Photobucket or Google, Live Search and Yahoo. The interface can be docked to the side of the desktop or independently as a window. It is possible to select one source for images or search all of the locations at once. The image search application will display 18 preview images per page in normal state and a lot more when maximizing the window. A total of 190 thumbnail images are displayed on a 24″ monitor running on a resolution of 1920×1200.

A click on a preview thumbnail will open a preview window containing additional information like size, title or format of the selected image. Size buttons on the bottom will load the image in different sizes. These size buttons are automatically adjusted depending on the original size of the image. The same toolbar contains buttons to save the image to the local computer, view it in the original context (which will open the image in the default web browser), set it as the desktop background, copy or share it.

<span

The application is a bit heavy on the resource usage but since it does not have to be running all the time in the background it does not matter that much.
