The problem with the net is that there isn’t a sure-fire way to ensure that you will actually have access to it anywhere. If you have Wi-fi you are quite well of, but of course only near cities and towns. Even then, if you find hotspots you’re fine, but otherwise no internet for you.

I wrote an article just a few days ago about the Google Reader Notifier application for Windows computers and was linked by the Download Squad Website who mentioned the Firefox extension with the same name. The only difference between those two applications that share the same name is that one is running in your system tray while the other is reporting the amount of unread news in Google Reader in your status bar.

Google Reader Notifier is a small application for Windows based operating systems that sits in the system tray notifying the user of new unread items in Google Reader. The amount of unread news are shown in a small window that opens above the system tray. Checks are done periodically and can be configured to be performed every 5 to 120 minutes.

I have been using Netvibes to subscribe to and read feeds from other websites and recently decided to give Google Reader a try to see if the hype that it created was justified at all. I really like the options to customize the feeds into different windows and tabs in netvibes, I added some on different subjects such as tech and software and can switch between those tabs for fast access. Drag and Drop is used to move feeds around which makes this feature very fast.
