You might have read about the google translate proxy that makes it possible for some to access blocked websites because the administrator did not think of blocking the translate function of google as well. What most people don´t know is that Google offers at least two additional services that can be used as a web proxy to bypass restrictions imposed upon you by your system administrator.

There is no way I can tell if this actually works in your case or if your clever admin managed to add the following two urls to the list of blocked websites. Both seem to be services for mobile phones and PDAs which means that the screen output does not look pretty but is fully functional. Most graphics are missing as well. The first one can be reached at http://www.google.com/xhtml , the second at http://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http://

You have to append the url for the second service after the http:// for example ..n?u=http://www.ghacks.net/

Both services append the url and the search results to the url which means that google.com is again working as a proxy. Let me know if this works out for your.

I know that this has been in the news for some days but some of you probably have not heard about it, christmas is stress, you know. You can use the google translate feature to visit webpages that are blocked in your country. For example germans are not allowed to visit stormfrontdotorg or rottendotcom and could use this proxy to visit this sites.

The technique is simple, use the following url:

http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=www.yoursiteinhere.com

Change yoursiteinhere.com to the site you would like to visit and it will display. It does not completly hide your ip, so if you are banned you won´t be able to visit this site.

[tags]google, proxy, anonymous, banned, censorship[/tags]
