I recently read an article written by Amit from Digital Inspirations who was describing a way to set Gmail as the default email client in Firefox. Whenever a email link would be clicked on the Gmail compose mail page would be opened. His way required users to download Google Talk and activate the option “Open Gmail when I click on Email links”.

There is however a way to reach this goal without installing Google Talk at all. All you need is the Google Toolbar for Firefox.

We had some reports coming in about some outages of the gmail - that is google mail - web interface which meant that some users could not access their mail accounts for several hours which seems to be a big problem for at least some of those users.
