Alright I’m sorry guys but this isn’t technology related at all, it’s just so funny I had to share it.

Granted, someone will need to die before you can purchase this gift, however if you’re willing to wait than you too could brighten someone’s day with this pencil box full of pencils made out of human carbon. You also get the deceased’s name printed on the side of each pencil as you can see from the screenshot.

This is the brainchild of Nadine Jarvis who likes to create death inspired design work, or ‘work in post mortem’ if you prefer.

That’s not all though, you don’t just use these pencils until their gone, the box is designed so just one pencil can be removed at a time and are sharpened back into the box so it becomes an urn for the remains.

If you would like to be useful even after dying than perhaps this is the way to go.

Create Your Own USB Stick

Something interesting for the weekend. If you feel that the usual retail usb sticks are to boring you might want to give designing your own a try. You can do that at the Fabidoo website which not only offers the creation of unique usb sticks but all kinds of like animals or hearts which would probably make a great gift for loved ones.

Back to the usb sticks. The customer can pick one of the colorful templates and edit that or start the process with a white usb stick. The sticks can be rotated, zoomed in and out, opened and looked at from every possible direction.

It is then possible to change the colors of all the parts, apply text, upload images and frames to create fantastic looking usb sticks. Just look at some of the results, they look really great.

The company is using a specialized 3D printer to create those custom usb sticks and other products.

Fake Gift Boxes

I’m pretty astonished that I never heard about fake gift boxes before, at least not ones that you could purchase in stores. I fell trap to custom ones more than once though but those gift boxes raise it to a whole new level. They look really professional and one could think that they are the real thing.

Currently four of those gift boxes are available: A Pro Whisk Set with 28 whisks, the Visor Organizer which turns the head into another pocket, the Smoke Alarm with custom sounds ranging from sounds of the rainforest to Dixieland tunes and last but not least the Auto Power Strip which is a electronic hub placed directly under the rear mirror of the car.

I simply had to write about these, forgive me, hehe.

Donationcoder – do you know the website ? Mouser is a regular here at ghacks and I had the pleasure to test some of his excellent applications before. Flipbook Printer is another great idea especially for birthdays, holiday season or other occurrences where kids are around. It makes it possible to create flipbooks from avi files and is easy to manage.

After installing the small file a step by step guide pops up which explains the complete process. It gives you information how to prepare the movie, set the start and end of the movie and to write covers and backs. The program interface looks crowded but with the help of the step by step guide you should be able to create a flipbook quickly and without much troubles.

Flipbook Printer offers a great (and cheap) way of creating a special gift for someone that you like. I would say that not only kids but also women would love this kind of present.
