The best games every Tuesday that I have found and written about at my games website Take 9. I do like to play games every now and then and have discovered many throughout the years. At least one game is reviewed every day at Take 9. All games are free of course and either browser games that can be instantly played or free games that can be downloaded and played on the local computer.

This week was strongly centered around Japanese arcade shooters and puzzle games. If you love those you find some very innovative and interesting games that are definitely fun to play.

Lets start with the Japanese arcade shooters and go from there. I want to mention two of them in this recap: Titanion which is a vertically scrolling time based shooter and Tumiki Fighters which scrolls horizontally. Both have wonderful graphics and an interesting game play. Be prepared for lots of bullets as well.

I reviewed Cookie Cruncher today which is a remake of Yoshi’s Cookies, an addictive puzzle game for the SNES back in the good old days. Something for a puzzle-addicted girlfriend.

Kong on the other hand is a mix of Unreal Tournament and Quake in 2D. It offers multiplayer modes like Deathmatch and Capture the Flag with great graphics and interesting weapons.

Surprisingly though all games can be downloaded and played on Windows PCs. Have fun, lots of and remember to bookmark Take 9 as well to get your daily share of interesting games.

Almost two months have passed since the creation of my game website Take 9. A site that I love to write for because I only review games that I like to play. The games are free as well which probably makes it an interesting website for you as well if you have a similar “game taste”. I like turn based strategy games, roleplaying games, shoot em ups and puzzles mainly but will throw in the occasional ubergame that is that good that I like to play it even if I do not play games of that type usually.

To promote my website I post a small article every Tuesday that is listing the best games that I reviewed in the week at Take 9. I also post game videos of “could-be-a-smash-hit” games on the site like the first ever video of Duke Nukem Forever gameplay or a Dawn of War II trailer.

Back to the games that I reviewed last week. Tumiki Fighters is a unique Japanese shoot em up that the developer calls Sticky Shooter because parts of defeated enemy ships stick to the player’s ship to add to its firepower and defense.

The second downloadable game was ZicZac, a challenging Tetris variation where the player has to create blocks of four or more blocks of the same color to remove them from the board.

The browser game Play Polinko and Mr. Bounce on the other hand are both relaxing puzzle games.

Each Tuesday is game tuesday here at Ghacks and I list the most interesting games that I discovered throughout the week at my games blog Take9. I cover everything that I like which most likely means that it won’t attract a huge audience in the near future. So what you get is a good mixture of free game reviews and interesting or funny game videos.

You will find a high proportion of turn based strategy game, roleplaying game and Japanese shoot em up reviews over at the website. Oh yeah, and Gnome joined the team and is writing about things that he likes every now and then. The following four games can be played on the web directly if you have the flash plugin installed.

Music Catch

Music Catch is a relaxing music game which makes it perfect for a short break of 5-10 minutes. The player takes control of an orb that can be moved with the mouse to collect particles that are appearing from a rotating line.

Knuckleheads

Knuckelheads is a jump and run game with a twist. Instead of jumping and running around you take the role of two different colored heads that are connected to each other with an elastic chain.

Bomb Chain

Bomb Chain is a highly addictive puzzle game that features 40 levels. Each level is comprised of a board and several bombs that are already placed on it. The player’s task is to use bombs from the inventory to create a chain reaction that clears all bombs on the board.

Untangle

Untangle is a classic puzzle game that’s easy to understand, challenging and fun. The objective of the game is to untangle the lines so that no line is crossing another one. The entire game is played with the mouse. Clicking on a node and holding the left mouse button makes it possible to move the node around on the map.

I have created a new free games blog about a month ago – as you might know – and decided to post about the best articles of that website every Thursday here at Ghacks. If you want to check it out right now head over to Take 9 and make sure you subscribe to the RSS Feed if you like what you see. I write about games and related content that I personally like. This includes free browser games which make up about 60% of all posts plus freeware games that can be downloaded to the computer, game videos of upcoming interesting games and of course my two favorite video game reviewers Zero Punctuation and the Angry Video Game Nerd.

Gnome from The Random Gnome’s Lair joined today as an author which means that you will be able to enjoy his articles as well. I’m not sure what he will write about but it will definitely be cool and interesting. If you like to join as well let me know.

Please note that this is a free and fun project currently which means that no one will get paid (including me) because the site does not have advertisement at all. This might change in the future but for now it’s completely free.

Chronotron: An interesting flash puzzle game that makes use of time jumps.

Quantasm: A remake of the game Bedlam with great graphics. It’s basically an arena shoot em up.

Fire 2: Japanese shoot em up game. Basically an arena shooter with lots of bullets flying your way.

Hollow Point: Great free game that puts you in the role of a genetic engineered turtle with a gun on its shell that is trying to escape the lab it was created in.

You can find additional games over at Take 9.
