Knowing the position of every single particle in the whole infinite universe at the moment, you would be able to predict the future precisely some people say. Well, since our far advanced 2.0 technology is (and will remain for a while) still too lame to do such experiment at present, there’s no way to make predictions like that. I like to take a glimpse at future technologies so that I can see which technology changes we can expect in the next few years. This one is amazing. It has been taken right out of a Japanese news show showing how a characters appearance is changed in real time. Character is probably not the right word because what I really mean is that the real time image of a human is taken and altered in a way that offers several new interesting prospects.

Seadragon and Photosynth are two new technologies that have been presented at the TED 2007 conference by it’s architect Blaise Aguera y Arcas. Seadragon is basically a way to navigate seamlessly through a very large amount of image data. He was giving three examples at the presentation.
First he introduced a 300 Megapixel image, then that he was able to zoom into a complete book and lastly that it was possible to create new types of ads that would allow to zoom in and reveal details that would not be possible otherwise.
