Ultimate Football Results is an extension for the Google Chrome browser that brings football news to the web browser. The extension adds a single icon to the address bar of the browser upon installation. A click on that icon opens an overlay window with four information panels.

Each panel or frame can be configured individually to display the table, results or fixtures of a specific league or tournament. The extension supports all major and minor European leagues, from the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga to the Italian Series A, the Spanish Liga and the UEFA champions league and Europa League. It is all there.

Each frame can be configured individually to display table, results or fixtures for a specified league or tournament. Even better, a total of four tabs, each with four frames, can be configured in the options.

Football fans only interested in one league could for instance display all three in three different frames in the Home tab, add four European leagues under Europe, League One or Two in the Other tab and finally the FA cup, Champions League and European League under Knockout Cups.

First time users can configure the extension with a right-click on the icon and the selection of options. Here it is then possible to select a league or tournament and the type of news that should be displayed in the selected frame.

Some information that are presented in a frame can be clicked on. Game results for instance lead to game stats that list the goal scorers, bookings, match stats and links to text commentary of the game, the team list and the next result (that is the next game that has been played in that particular league or cup).

Ultimate Football Results is currently not including national teams, the World cup, Euro cup or any other cup that is played in the world with national teams. The extension lacks women football, non European leagues and lower divisions with the exception of League One and League Two. Adding those would certainly improve the extension further.

It sometimes takes a few seconds before the window is rendered and the results displayed. This can be a issue as there is no indication that news are loaded.

Google Chrome users can download and install Ultimate Football Results from the official Chrome Web Store.

Firefox users can try Footiefox which offers more leagues and countries, live notifications but less detailed information about each game.

For the past five days or so, myp2p has been offline. Both the forum and main website are not accessible anymore. I have been asked by several users who read my article if there was an alternative available, with football season starting in Europe and all.

The official news is this: myp2p.eu is offline and may not come back. The developers and maintainers of the service have moved to a new domain called wiziwig.eu which is currently experiencing heavy traffic and as such denies connections. The forum, hosted on the http://forum.wiziwig.eu/ subdomain works fine though, and users can read up and discuss what is happening right there.

A forum announcement reads:

Site update: At the moment our main website is offline. The forum as you can see will keep running and you can here provide eachother with links and info. We hope to be able to have the site back running tomorrow morning European time. Thanks for your understanding!

Update 11am CET: still working on it, we try the best we can!

Forum members find several live stream links in the forum, for instance in the Weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays forums. Here are several myp2p.eu alternatives that are currently up and running:

• Football Streaming – Lists several football games per day with links to multiple streaming options.
• Free Football – Offers many matches including UEFA Champions League, Friendlies, UEFA Europa League and all European and International football leagues. Has also a section for other sports including Cricket or US Sports like Baseball, American Football, Baseball and Basketball.
• LS Hunter – Has live stream links for football, basketball, baseball, motor sports, rugby and more.
• SportyFever Link to live game streams, mainly football but also cricket.

When you open the MyP2P website for the first time you will notice different sports represented by icons at the top. All you need to do know to find the matches that you are looking for is to click on one of the icons, lets say football, to see all football matches in a listing on the website.

You can sort the listing by day (weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays) and by competition. It is usually a good idea to sort by competition, especially in the football category as there are are usually hundreds of matches listed on the page.

The listing indicates the game time, teams that play against each other, the match type (league, friendly, international, competition) and whether it is broadcasted on the Internet.

A click on the TV icon at the end of each line displays the live sport streams that are available. The streams are sorted by TV station. Beneath each station is a list of available streams, the software that is needed to view them, the streaming bitrate and the signal strength.

The next step depends on the software listing. Some streams can be played directly in the Internet browser without software installation. Others, like Sopcast, PPLive or MediaPlayer indicate which software is required to watch the streams.

MyP2P has created an overview page that links to the latest software versions required to watch football live on the Internet. Just open the software page here and download the TV streaming client to your PC to add support for the streams to it. A click on a live streaming link should launch the installed software or open the stream on a new web page.

If that is not working, you could copy the link of the stream and paste it into the software or on a new tab directly.

You may need to try several streaming links before you find one that works best for you quality wise.

The MyP2P sports guide covers all major leagues and tournaments, including the Premier League, Primera Division, Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, Serie A and hundreds of other leagues world wide. It also covers all major competitions, from Champions League to world and euro championships.

And if you are not into football, you find other sports on the site as well. From American Football, Baseball and Basketball, to Cricket, Cycling, Golf and Motorsports.

New users may spend an hour or two downloading, installing and configuring the various applications required to watch the live streams. It may also take some getting used to time to the various streams on offer, especially how they work. You will definitely encounter streams that simply do not work for you. That’s usually not a big problem considering that there are most of the time multiple streams available for a single match.

The live football streams on MyP2P may sometimes be the only option to watch specific matches live in a country.

The extension Eplsite: Watch Live Football Streaming is basically providing quick access to the service offered at Eplsite which lists live football streamings that can be viewed in the web browser with the only requirement being that Flash is installed.

The site concentrates on the UK football scene which is definitely one of the finest in the world but does offer matches without English teams as well. The extension will place an icon in the Google Chrome address toolbar that display the available matches upon selection.

Today’s matches include for instance AC Milan vs. Manchester United and Olympique Lyon vs. Real Madrid. The live football streams are displayed in a new window after clicking on a link.

The quality is ok but not excellent but good enough considering that it is free to watch. The site includes a small chat applet that can be used to chat with other viewers while watching the stream.

The extension is helpful for users who do not want to visit the Eplsite directly regularly to find out which matches they broadcast live on that day. Everyone else who just wants to watch the major events like the Champions League or Euro League may be better of by visiting the site on those match days to find out which football games are offered.

The extension is only available for Google Chrome and can be downloaded directly from the official Google Chrome extension gallery.

The widget is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and will display a selection menu after installation. This selection menu displays various European countries (Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, France and Ukraine) plus the Champions League and World Cup 2010 qualification (including non-European groups).

Selecting a country will display the standings of the main league of that country with the possibility to change to other leagues of that country. Each club is clickable in the league which will display the league results of the club.

The football results of the selected club lead to statistics that display various statistics including the win / tie / loss percentage, longest streak or highest results.

Champions League and World Cup 2010 Qualification use a slightly different display. They initially display the groups and a link to fixtures and results. A click on the group will display the group’s standings again with the possibility to display the matches of a specific club.

Many football fans will surely find this Windows widget to display football results and league standings useful. The UEFA Informer widget is available at the Deviant Art profile page of the developer.

Several applications will be needed to watch the games. The so called P2P apps stream different tv stations, mostly from Asia, which generally means that the language will be Chinese, but some are in English as well. I would suggest to download the applications as soon as possible because servers will definitely be overrun when the UEFA Euro 2008 begins.

Those three applications should make a good start. It’s a bit difficulty to tell yet which stations will broadcast which games and I will definitely update this thread (or link to a new one) listing the games and the stations that broadcast them. You can be sure that most of the games will be available in one of these applications. Most channels overlap anyway and are available in most of these applications.

The project has more than 53000 members already who are currently deciding on the club that they would like to buy. The most popular club will be bought if it meets the requirements which are: 51% or more of the football club shares can be bought, it has no or a manageable debt, potential to reach the Premiership and the size of the stadium and public transport situation.

The idea is intriguing and it really could work. A social experiment so to speak of. I especially like the idea that the members decide where the money will be spend. All profits will be reinvested and it will be nice to see how that money is spend. Owners not only decide about new players but also on Youth Policy, Stadium and Infrastructure.

What I don’t like is the fact that it is possible to join at any time giving you the same voting power as someone who was there from day one on. It is a risk to invest the money at the moment, it might be not a risk at all in five years from now on. Some way to give members of the first hour a special position would have been nice. (hall of fame or something perhaps)

I also think that the whole project looks a bit like scam as well. While it surely is not with all the media coverage it got it remains hidden from the members who the initiators of the project are.

My Football Club

I can’t see many changes in this version. TVU Networks are unfortunately not publishing release notes so I have to compare the old and new version by myself. The only change that I was able to find is a link to the program of that network that you could click on. Some stations are not there for the moment, I’m missing ABC for instance.

If you run into errors with TVU Player you should take a look at my tvu player faq which addresses some of the most common problems that are encountered. Please note that you do need a broadband connection for most channels, only the channels marked with low could probably be viewed without one.

Should be something for everyone, let us start, shall we ?

They most likely will scan your IP and lookup your country from it. That means people from outside Britain won´t be able to view the matches on the BBC homepage. (or other homepages of other countries, you get my point I hope.) So, it would be impossible for an englishman, who is supporting his team in Germany, to view the live coverage on the BBC pages. As you all know, there are always ways to circumvent country checks, here is the one I suggest.

Last time it was ABC who did not allow their series to be viewed by people from outside the USA and the method that I described back then is still valid for the World Cup (or any other streaming content on the internet).

But this time I want to introduce a faster method which should work most of the time for you. Visit a website like whatismyproxy.com to check on your own IP. Remember this IP, you will come back to this site and check the IP again with a proxy enabled.

Search google using strings like “country proxy list”, “england proxy list” and the like. You will come up with search results like publicproxyservers.com or proxy server list. All show a table with proxies including the country the proxy is hosted. Browse for proxies that are located in the same country as the content provider of the streams.

Copy one of the IPs and remember the port. In Firefox open Tools –> Options. Select Connection Settings and select Manual Proxy Configuration. Add the IP to the HTTP Proxy Row and enter the Port in the field next to it. Click Use this proxy server for all protocols and test it by navigating to the whatismyproxy.com website again.
See if the page loads fast and the IP is different from the one the website displayed earlier when you checked your real IP.

If you see a different IP it means two things. First, the proxy is working (assuming it does not take ages to load pages) and second your are surfing relativly anonymous. The BBC website will check your IP and detect that you are coming from Britain and display their treasures for you. Note that it is still possible to detect your real IP by the means of Java for example.
If you have questions let me know, I´ll be glad to help out. The great advantage of this method is that you can check and use proxies no matter what operating system you are using. A disadvantage is that it could take a while until you find a fast working proxy that is located in the country you need. If you have troubles try charon to verify proxies, the how to is available from my ABC article.

It speaks for itself though that many viewers thought it could be real after watching it. Even the press was puzzled at first but after analysis it became clear that this was a trick animation and not the real deal.
