A visitor was asking me a while ago if there were really download managers for websites like Rapidshare and I simply told him at that time that they would exist. JDownloader is a Rapidshare Download Manager that comes with a lot of functions to make downloading files from Rapidshare and dozens other file hosting websites a breeze.

I normally do not write about file hoster because most simply offer the same service using a different interface and website address. Drop.io on the other hand is pretty unique because of several features. Users do not have to signup to store (drop) their files at Drop.io and the only limitation is a maximum size of 100 Megabytes per drop.

Bookmarklets are tiny Javascript codes that can be added to the Bookmarks and are then executed when the Bookmark is clicked. I found a nice bookmarklet that lets you search lots of free file hosters at once. All you need to do is to create a new bookmark and add the bookmarklet code as the location in Firefox | address in Opera.

I was specifically asked by a reader if it was possible to search Mediafire for files like videos, music and applications and you know I can’t say no if one of my reader requests something. Mediafire is a file hosting site like Rapidshare and Megaupload with apparently no storage limitation and a file size limit of 100 Megabyte.

I see a lot of file hosting recommendations lately for files that are larger than 1 Gigabyte and I was always wondering why the writers thought that this was the best way to share those files. I know it´s been a while since I published the last file host list. Finally, today, I decided to update the list, remove all dead services and add new services. I personally would like to know if you want me to keep the sites in the list that ask you to register before you can use their services.

I published a large file host list last month and good lots of positive and some negative feedback concerning the list. The list contained a lot of sites that allow users to upload free files to their website and share it with others. A negative aspect was that it only featured a few categories that were not that useful to find a host that suited special needs.

I present you the free file host list for november 2005. Free File Hosts allow you to upload certain filetypes to their websites, this is ideal for storage or trading with your friends. Maybe you would like to upload files that you also need at work, or downloaded a great movie file that you want to share with some of your friends and do´nt want to send it to each of them.

Its of course perfect for our search strings that let you find various files like mp3, movies, images aso. I added the links to the most prominent topics that we wrote on the subject.
