Many error messages in Windows are displayed in windows without the option to copy or process the information easily.

It is for instance not possible to copy the error message title to research the error on the Internet. This has to be done manually by the user.

Error Report Grabber is a portable software that can grab the information from open Windows error messages to provide the user with a text version of the information that can be copied easily.

The process is semi-automated. The user needs to start the Error Report Grabber application if a Windows error message is displayed on the screen. It is then necessary to enter the first words of the error report title and error text so that the program can identify the correct window.

A click on the Find Report button scans all open windows for the error message. If the program finds the correct windows handles it will display their contents. A click on the Grab button will grab the information and display them in the program’s interface. These can then be copied by clicking on Copy.

Error Report Grabber is unfortunately only compatible with Windows XP. The program <a

Of course, this being Windows, you don’t get a straight error message. Instead, you have something like ‘You have encountered error 11456’ or something along those lines.

So, how do you figure out what the error code means. Usually, you trot off to the Microsoft site or Google, type in the code and wait for the results to be displayed. Not a very effective method if I might say so.

If you are fed up of always having to hunt for meanings of error messages, then Gregory Braun has just the thing for you. He’s developed a software called Error Messages for Windows. The software, as its name suggests, offers an easy way to decipher those error codes.

This free software is easy to use. Simply open it up, type in the error code and voila! you get a short description of the error corresponding to that particular number. At just over 200 kilo bytes, this program is small, which is another plus. In addition, the program runs on all versions of Windows.

<img

Have you heard of anything else that can perform a similar function? Do let me know.

Windows Error Codes Explained

Operating Systems

Tools

Windows

blue-screen

error

error-code

error-message

error-popup

error-window

microsoft

windows-xp

Error Codes for Windows is pretty handy if you do encounter an occasional error, which windows user does not btw. Error Code 32 ment that “The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.” As you can see it is useful although you might have troubles fixing some of the messages by yourself. Finding the other process in the example is not that easy as it sounds for example.

Still, it is better than nothing. The tool is only about a hundred K in size.
