href="http://www.neonds.com/en">NeonDS is an advanced emulator for Nintendo’s popular Nintendo DS handheld system. If you know the system you might know that it features two screens of which one can be manipulated with a stylus like pen. The mouse is emulating that stick on the computer and it works surprisingly well.

The current version 0.21 works with several homebrew games that I tested from several websites that offer games and applications for the Nintendo DS. Their main purpose is obviously to be run on the Nintendo DS but they work great on the NeonDS emulator.

The emulator is not perfect yet which is fully understandable if you look at its version. Some homebrew games crashed after loading them into the emulator and some did not display the graphics properly. The experience after all was quite good for most applications and games.

<span

To make it short, WASD moves Up, Left, Down and Right while the keys JKU IYO emulate the other six keys of the Nintendo DS. The key 1 emulates select while 2 does the same for the start button.

I was able to get 60 frames per second in most applications and games when testing the emulator, users with older systems will probably experience lower frame rates. If you are looking for a solid Nintendo DS emulator you might give NeonDS a try.

PCSX 2 Playstation 2 Emulator

Entertainment

Games

emulator

playstation 2

ps2 emulator

Pcsx2 emulator as the best Playstation 2 emulator in existence and I have to say that it really does an awesome job as long as your computer is fast enough to handle the emulation. There are two prerequisites that are a big hurdle for many users. The first is that you do need a Playstation 2 bios file.

The developers can’t supply one because they would infringe Sony’s copyright. It is possible to use tools to extract the bios of your own Playstation 2. I know that most P2P networks have those files available as well. Besides the Bios you also need a game obviously before you can play Playstation 2 games.

Those games can be in all image formats like iso, img or bin. A plugin also adds compatibility to put Playstation 2 games in the CD or DVD drive and play them from there. I personally recommend the disk image way of loading games because that’s way faster.

The compatibility list is incredible. It lists 1858 Playstation 2 games of which 748 play perfectly. New versions of the emulator will surely increase game compatibility further.

I would like to point out two important features of PCSX 2. The first is that you can add plugins to it that enhance the functionality much like the one I mentioned above that is adding the possibility to load CDs and DVDs from the drive directly.

The second is that you should consider playing those games with a Playstation pad because it is really awful to play a game like Tekken with the keyboard.

NullDC a new Dreamcast Emulator for PC

Entertainment

Games

Tools

dreamcast-emulator

emulator

gdrom

nulldc
<guid

It is supposed to be the emulator with the most playable titles running Dreamcast games at full speed.

You do need backups of your Dreamcast games because the GD Rom format is not readable by normal PC drives. Many games have been tested already and most work fine including: House of the Dead 2, Sonic Adventure and Powerstone. There is a big thread at the NullDC forum where users post their experience with the emulator and talk about games that work / don’t work.

Using NullDC can’t be easier. Click on Options, Select Plugins and choose zNullGD, SCSI Passthru.. Select Options again, click on GDRom and select the drive that contains the backup.

Please remember that NullDC is currently in beta stage which means that support for games that fail at this moment could be added later on. I will keep you posted.
