Block Posters is a similar service with the difference that the images are not rasterized which makes the results even more impressive.

A large wall poster is created in three steps. An image is uploaded to the website from the user’s computer in the first one. Step 2 is the actual creation process. The user picks the size in Din A4 sheets that he wants the poster to be. Images with larger resolutions work better than smaller ones obviously. The default setting is a width of 4 pages which can be changed to another figure between 1 which would be the original size of the image to 10. Choosing a width of ten would make the wall poster 7 feet wide and 5.6 feet high. The default width of 4 would still create a 2.8 feet wide and 2.2 feet high wall poster.

Once the width has been selected the user can change the view from portrait to landscape and the format from A4 to US Letter if he likes. A click on continue will create the wall poster on the server and provide a download in PDF format.

The PDF can be printed on a normal printer afterwards and it is only a matter of finding the right place and attaching the poster to that place afterwards.

Or are you looking for a great gift idea for Christmas for someone you like ? Rasterbator creates huge rasterized images from pictures that you either upload from your computer or select from a website. You may create those images online or download the software and use it that way. Take a look at two examples that I have selected from the Rasterbator gallery.

Once you have uploaded an image to the online script you may crop it and select the output size of the rasterized image by simply moving a slider into the exact position you want it to be. An information will tell you how many sheets of paper you need for the size that you have selected. Once you are satisfied with the size you may further customize the results by adding a border to it, selecting the dot size and selecting whether you would like a black and white image, a custom color image or a multi color image.

Once that is done you are set to go. The image will be processed and a pdf file will be created. Make sure you follow the directions of the developer when you print the pdf:

When printing the image with Adobe Reader, choose Page scaling: Fit to Printer Margins at the options window that comes up (Fit to Paper in older versions). If you chose horizontal paper alignment, also make sure Auto-Rotate and Center is selected. Most printers cannot print to the margins of the paper – these settings ensure that all the images will be completely printed.
