I knew that there were several ways to convert a single page to pdf but I was not so sure about complete websites. I started to perform all kinds of searches but never came up with a free software that would convert a full website to PDF. That is, until I stumbled upon the most obvious choice of them all: The trial version of Adobe Acrobat.

Adobe Acrobat can be used as a trial version for 30 days and it actually does have the exact functionality that Victor is looking for. You can download it directly from Adobe with some nagging done by them. Before you can download the file you need to register an account and request the download link which will be send to your email account. My advise to Adobe is that if they want to lower their sales further they should make it even more complicated for users to download the trial versions.

Download and installation take a while since the download has a size of more than 250 Megabyte. Once installed though everything could not be more fluent. Press the keyboard shortcut SHIFT CTRL O or click on the Create PDF > From Web Page button. A menu opens that is asking for a url and offering several options on how to proceed from here.

You can specify the levels from the originating page or that you want to convert the whole website. It is normally a good idea to stay on the server and even on the path. If you do not do this the PDF could really download a lot of unrelated pages from other websites or areas of the same website. You will see the transfers in a box and the final version of the document will be shown at the end.

Works perfectly. The result can then be saved in the end as a pdf document.

Official Microsoft Office PDF Plugin

Operating Systems

Software

Windows

create pdf

microsoft

microsoft-office

office 2007

office pdf

word 2007
<guid

That’s probably the most effective way to add support for PDF documents to Microsoft Office 2007.

The plugin can only be downloaded if you have a genuine Microsoft Office 2007. The check will be made before the download link for the plugin becomes available.

<span

I have two major problems with this procedure however.

The first is that i have to upload my invoice to a website so that it can be processed and converted into the portable document format. This is a privacy issues and I love my privacy as you all know. The second is that websites come and go and there is no telling if the website with the converter script will be there the next year.

I therefor decided to try some local solutions to create pdf documents without having to purchase Adobe Acrobat. WinPDF Writer is such a solution. It creates a virtual printer that creates pdf documents out of any text document that you create in Windows applications.

It’s working flawlessly with Microsoft Office and I suppose it would work with other applications as well. I just have to select the virtual printer to create the pdf document.

The best way to create pdf documents

Operating Systems

Tools

Windows

acrobat

adobe

create pdf

dopdf

pdf
<guid

Creating pdf documents is not something that I have to do on a daily basis but it was always a rather complicated process because I did not want to purchase a professional version of Adobe Acrobat only to create a handful of documents each year.

The first method that I discovered was a online service that created a pdf document out of documents that I would upload to their website. The newly created pdf document was then send to my email account. While this message had the advantage that I did not have to install a software on my system it has some disadvantages.

The most important for me are privacy concerns. I sometimes have to convert documents that I don’t want to expose to others and I don’t want to take that risk even if it is a slim one.

A far better solution in my opinion is doPDF which installs itself as a pdf printer on your system. Whenever you would need a pdf document you would simply choose to print – which does not print but save – the document that you want to convert.

This way a pdf document is created without third party involvement which is way better in my opinion.

Take a look at the Youtube video to see a demonstration:

<object
