Why would someone want to backup his DVD`s ? The Movie Industry apparently thinks that no one should be able to backup his own, bought, DVD movies because of the build in copy protection of almost all new movie DVD`s. We, who pay money for the DVD`s, want to have the right to make a backup of a DVD that cost $20 or more. Some users don’t want to have scratches on their DVD`s, some want to use the DVD in their cars or Notebooks without fearing to lose or damage the original one.

Copy-protected CDs turning music fans off record buying
Well this is no big news to the internet community. We, more than everyone else, are keen on using new media devices and like to be among the first when it comes to technology in general. A survey among canadian music retailers now found out what we actually now for a very long time: Copy protection is bad for business. Customers are more frequently than before returning cds which they could not play in their personal computer or copy to their mobile player. Retailers also observe that customers tend to put cds down when they spot the copy protected logo.

Sony to patch copy-protected CD
News.com reports that Sony BMG Music Entertainment will provide a patch for the software that could be installed on computers when a Music Cd is put into a cd or dvd drive. The software as is could be used by virus writers to hide software from antivirus software when the program from the music cd was installed on the home computer.
