While it might work to simply rename the img file extension to iso, it sometimes is not that simple to convert the file. The Img to Iso converter has been created for those cases.

The add-on will always convert into the unit and currency selected by the user. The options offer additional settings. It is for instance possible to remove the icon from the status bar, enable auto convert to automatically convert currencies and units on all pages that are loaded in Firefox, selected thousands and decimal separators and to disable conversion options that are not needed. A user can disable unit conversions so that only currencies get converted in the browser.

Converter is available for all Firefox versions from Firefox 2 on. The developer has not uploaded the latest version to the Mozilla add-on repository yet. This means that users of the latest Minefield releases need to force compatibility to install the add-on, and that everyone finds a new version of the add-on at the developer site. This however adds a slight security risk to the add-on, since the new version was not checked by Mozilla yet.

The application was designed with ease of use in mind, especially the conversions can be handled without knowing anything about bitrates, formats and frames. If a user wants to convert videos into mp4 format he simply selects a desired quality and size or picks a device like the PSP or iPod that he wants to view the video on. Experienced users can select the custom settings which give access to all video parameters of the target video.

Format Factory supports batch conversions and multiple files and even folders can be picked at once to be added to the processing queue. It is even possible to mix file formats in the queue, everything is handled quite well by the software.

If you play around with Format Factory for a while you notice several “nice to have” features that have been added. Tag lines can be added to images that are converted for instance and it’s up to the user to pick a font, size, color and text of the tag line.

I downloaded some hiqh quality flash video files of Gametrailers.com and converted them in the application. I was surprised at the speed of the conversion. It’s fast and efficient from what I can tell.

You can choose between four different quality settings: Default, Screen Optimized, eBook Optimized and Print Optimized. Enough said, great service, try it out.
