The online service creates full screen RSS feed tickers of up to four RSS feeds. These full screen ticker has been optimized for large displays that include computer monitors, flat screen televisions and even walls or projectors. Rollgator could be an interesting option in offices, at events or shops to display related news to employees and customers. It can naturally be also used on single computer systems which might be interesting to keep up with news without being at the computer system all the time.

An account is required to setup the RSS feed ticker at Rollgator. Only a few information including an email address, username, password and at least one RSS feed url need to be entered before the RSS ticker will be created. Additional RSS feeds can be added to combine multiple feeds in the ticker. Various templates are available to change the design and appearance of the ticker. It is possible to add a banner text at the bottom of the screen which can contain custom text. Businesses and organizations would probably add their company’s name there. There is enough space to add additional text that could include contact information.

Rollgator is a relative new services that has been made public yesterday. The developers plan to extend the service by adding possibilities to add video and image feeds, customizable templates, clock and news on the banner or iCalendar ICS aggregation.

This is also important for computer monitors that are already in use to ensure that they display the colors and picture correctly on the screen. There are basically two different parts of monitor calibration. The first is ensuring that the screen is positioned correctly, the second that the colors are calibrated so that they are displayed as they should.

Eizo Monitortest is but one of many computer monitor calibration software programs available (read: Online Computer Monitor Calibration, Monitor Calibration Wizard, Easy Monitor Calibration or Calibrate Your Flat Screen Computer Monitor for additional options). The Eizo Monitortest tool has been developed for Eizo computer monitors. It can however be used to calibrate monitors on all computer systems regardless of the connected computer monitor.

The calibration tool is available in three different languages .It will display a series of test screens on startup that can be used to calibrate the monitor correctly. It does not provide a lot of explanation about the tests but its 24 tests should cover all aspects of the process. Tests can be deselected from being run in the program’s settings. The following tests are performed by default:

  • Autoadjust Test
  • Basic colors test
  • Moare test
  • Gemoetry test
  • Brightness, contrast, homogenity
  • Convergence test
  • Speed test
  • Sharpness test

Eizo Monitortest is a portable application that can be used to calibrate computer monitors. It is available for most Microsoft operating systems and for MacOSX.

Monitor Info View is a Nirsoft application that can display information about flat screen monitors or crt monitors. The software is portable and can be executed from any location. This could come in handy when analyzing computer monitors, for example before making a purchase.

The software extracts the information from the EDID (Extended display identification data) records of the computer monitor. Displayed are information like the serial number of the computer monitor, the build week, frequencies and image sizes among other information.

We have to rely on third party tools to add the functions and features that we demand from a multi-monitor environment and Multi-monitor taskbar is one of those applications.

The main function of the software is to add separate taskbars for every monitor that you have connected to your system. This means that each taskbar is only showing the applications that are running on that monitor which is an excellent way to keep an overview of all the programs and tools that are running.

It also adds a small icon, or two icons if you have three monitors, that lets you easily move that window to another monitor by clicking the left or right button in the top right corner.

It was build with the authors setup in mind which means that it works best with two monitors or three monitors where the primary monitor has to be the middle one.

Limitiations: With two monitors the secondary must be on right. The monitors must have the same resolution. With three monitors the secondary must be left and right with the primary in the middle. If time permits I may make it universal, but I have too many other projects.

I used to work with two Samsung monitors of the same size but the second monitor had to replace the defect one at my mothers computer. Monitors with higher resolutions become more and more affordable and I thought it would be nice to purchase a monitor that is capable of displaying images in a higher resolution.

I’m thinking to replace my old monitor with either an 22″ or 24″ monitor and would like to hear your opinion and tips. Can you recommend a computer monitor of that size ? I’m not that much of a gamer but I do play games sometimes which means that the monitor should support that and have a good enough response time.

I tend to favor the 24″ screen size slightly because of the higher native resolution of 1920×1200 compared to 1680 x 1050 of the 22″ monitors. What’s your opinion in this matter ? Would you go for the 24″ or stick with a 22″ screen size ?

Everton from Connected Internet posted an article today that has an image of an incredible looking computer monitor lineup. The linup consists of one 30” center flat screen monitor and five 20.1” perimeter flat screens that surround the center lcd monitor. This computer monitor setup needs special multi-monitor software of course that makes it possible to choose what you display on all the single flat screen monitors. Take a look at the image first to get a better impression.

Looks incredible does not it ? Well the look of this flat screen monitor setup is not the only incredible thing, the price is incredible as well: $7,499. The primary monitor has a maximum resolution of 2560×1600 and the five 20.1” flat screens one of 1600×1200. The number of total active pixels from this monitor setup is almost 8 million ! It seems that the only input is a dual link dvi-d connection in the central flat screen monitor.

If you would have the money for flat screen monitors like this would you purchase it or would you invest the money elsewhere ?
