There are however those who would like to watch the Summer Olympics 2008 but either do not have access to a channel that is broadcasting the event or have to work on a computer at that time and don’t have tv access at that time. Would not it be nice if you could watch the Summer Olympics 2008 for free by using your computer and some software that is freely available ?

Several so called P2P TV clients can be downloaded and it comes mainly down to a matter of taste or preference because most of these clients stream the same channels.

With that said I would like to concentrate on Sopcast as the software of choice to view the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in China for free. You can download the client software from the main Sopcast website, the installation is in English and a matter of seconds.

Once installed start the application and click on the Channels tab. This displays a list of available channels each with a network quality score and the name of the station. Clicking on the quality score reveals more information about the channel such as the media type, the streaming bandwidth and the signal quality.

Channels are grouped in categories such as Sport, Movies and TV Series with the Sport channels showing up on top of the channel list. There is no way of telling which channels will show the Summer Olympic games live but there will definitely be a handful who will do that.

You could use Sopcast in the meantime to watch European Football leagues, Champions League and other sport events.
