Seems to be a day for release candidates to go public. After Microsoft released their Vista release candidate 2 the Mozilla team released theirs of the upcoming firefox 2 browser. The following page lists all available downloads for the release candidate 2, many languages and versions for linux, mac and windows. All versions are around 18 megabytes in size.

Browzer not so good after all
Browzer was widely reported as a web browser that takes privacy and security serious. It seems most websites that “tested” browzer did not do their homeworks and parotted instead what the developers of browzer were claiming. The first thing that strikes me as odd is that Browzer is not really a new web browser but simply an add on of the Internet Explorer by Microsoft. It uses the same engine and identifies itself as the Internet Explorer.

The question that many people ask is why would someone want to surf anonymously in the first place. Why would someone who does not do something illegal want to surf anonymously at all ? I can think of lots of reasons, here are a few:

It starts with the question why you should secure your web browser and explains common web browser features like Java, ActiveX and Cookies. After that introduction the important part of the article begins with chapter 3 Vulnerabilities and Attack Vectors. Common vulnerabilities like Cross-Site Scripting, Spoofing and Cross-Zone and Cross-Domain Vulnerabilities. The article does not explain everything in great detail but provides links to a in depth explanation.

Quake as a browser game ?
Now this one is nicely done, although its just a presentation demo and consists only of a small part of the first quake level its astonishing what can be achieved with macromedia shockwave this days.
I suppose everyone knows the original quake game which was fun to play, especially because of the coop storymode part where you could play the game with your friends in coop mode.
