It is unfortunatly happening that I would like to play boardgames when none of my friends are available. I could play by myself but this is rather boring. One alternative would be to look for online versions of those games and play against computers or other human players over the internet.

The forum discussion ” Free Computer Version of Board and Card Games with Artificial Intelligence Computer Opponents and with Screen Shots” at the boardgamegeek.com website is offering heaps of games for every taste. I know, the title is rather long, hehe. I´d like to name some of the games that are mentioned there that I like to play or always wanted to play. Maybe you find a game or two that you find interesting enough to play.

Euphrat and Tigris, the first game in the list is a nice boardgame, as is Web of Power, St. Petersburg, The Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Formula De, Axis and Allies, Transamerica and many more. Some are offline versions that you have to download in order to run, some are online versions that can be played in your browser. Many require java to be played, but that should not be a problem at all.

Just let me know if you found a special game that you enjoyed playing and I will take a look at it. I´am currently download the Axis and Allies game, always enjoyed playing the different versions of this game so far.

The poster always mentions if it´s an online or offline version and the plattforms it is available for.
