This can be the case after a hard drive crash, file corruption or update that caused problems. We have reviewed several backup options before, from the Firefox extenion FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) to the third party application MozBackup.

And now another backup solution? Firefox Batckup (no that is not a misspelling) is a small batch script that can backup all Firefox profiles with minimal effort. It is not as versatile as Febe or MozBackup, but on the other hand less complicated to use.

All you basically need to do is to execute the script on your computer system, enter a destination directory and press enter. You can keep the default backup destination if you like, which would mean that you only have to press enter to backup all Firefox profiles. The default backup directory is the Windows desktop.

<img

First its uncomplicated use and second the ability to backup all Firefox profiles in one go without extra configuration.

The downside of the batch file is the restoration. The only way to restore a profile is to copy its contents from the backup location to the Firefox profile folder. That’s handled better by the two backup alternatives.

A second batch file to restore a profile to the default Firefox profile folder would be very handy. The batch file displays the default Firefox profile location after the backup. It is still up to the user to remember that location.

Another benefit of a batch file is the ability to create scheduled tasks easily. This way you could run the backup regularly, for instance once a day before shutdown or once a week, to automate the backups.

Batch backup for Firefox is <a

As to the why; There are usually two reasons for converting bat files to executables. The first are programs that can load executables but not bat files, backup software or shutdown programs come to mind that offer to load another executable before the process finishes.

The second reason is distribution and perception by users. Most batch file to exe converters are shareware or commercial applications with limited trial functionality. Not so Advanced Bat to Exe Converter, a free program to convert any batch file to executable.

Bat files can be loaded via the file menu from the local system. Their contents are displayed in the program interface once they have been successfully loaded. It is then possible to edit the batch file in the interface, and save it again to the local PC.

advanced bat to exe converter

The application works as a basic bat file editor as well, with an advanced command wizard that can be used to add commands to the batch file that are not supported by default.

The File > Build Exe allows the user to quickly create a standalone executable file that offers the same functionality as the batch file. A dialog window with exe options is displayed upon selection. This can be used to select an icon for the executable, add version information, dependency files and password protection. Finally, options are provided to make the program execute invisibly with no console window.
<div

A Pro version is offered by the developers for users who need to distribute their converted batch files to other computer systems. The software is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows operating system. <a

Only some IT guys and those with the preserved knowledge on how to create them use batch files extensively. The majority of Windows users does not probably even know how to create batch files anymore. This is where the batch file creation software Batchrun comes into play. It is provided with an installer and as a portable application. It basically provides a batch file creation interface that can be used to create batch files without expert knowledge of commands and switches.

The batch file creation process begins by selecting a command from the list of available commands. At the time of writing the available commands are run, copy, rename, makedir, delete, deltree, end process, kill process and text to clipboard. Each command has to be associated with a filename or name and several optional components including parameters, execution delays, working directories, run modes or priorities.

Drag and drop is supported between Windows Explorer and Batchrun to select files more easily from the computer system. As soon as the first command has been added to the program it can be tested by executing it from within the interface. Batchrun will display a progress bar that gives the user a indication of the execution process. The batch files can be saved directly to the computer system and even the Windows startup process. They are however not saved as .bat files but as .brs files which can only be executed by the Batchrun software.
