The free portable software supports backing up data automatically for all connected USB devices or only data on selected devices.

Users should open the settings of the program first to configure it according to their needs. Media Drives is one of the categories that users should pay attention to. All drive letters are listed here, and it is possible to configure settings for each letter individually.

<img

The program adheres to copy parameters in general settings. The check interval for removable media, the check interval after a successful copy operation and the maximum number of simultaneous copy operations can be defined here.

But those generic options are not the only ones available to backup data from connected removable devices. Profiles are available to configure the program’s behavior for one specific device. Here it is possible to configure the target directory for the data of that drive, the copy speed, whether files should be ignored and how modified files should be handled.

The program can be configured to run on Windows startup to catch and backup data from all connected removable devices automatically.

<a

The program is configured in an ini file that is supplied with the download. The parameters that can be edited include the destination for the backups on a local hard drive, a system tray icon that can be shown or hidden and a prompt that can also be shown or hidden.

If the system tray icon is set to 0 it will not be shown. This means that the only way to close the application is to kill it in the Windows task manager or by using a comparable software. A disabled prompt will have the consequence that the transfer is initiated right away without notifying the user about the transfer. Setting the parameter to 1 will display the prompt so that the user can accept or deny the transfer.

<span

It is furthermore possible to mix the variables by using T for day, M for month and J for year, e.g. JJ.MM.DD

abfrage defines if a prompt is displayed (1) or not (0)

traymenu defines if a traymenu icon is displayed (1) or not (0)

The software will create a backup of the data whenever the drive is connected to the computer running USB Dumper. Enabling the prompt is the only option to prevent the program from backing up the data every time the device is connected.

USB Dumper can be downloaded from the <a

These flash drives can be USB sticks, mp3 player, digital cameras, cell phones and basically anything that uses flash storage to store data.

Quite a few usage scenarios are possible because of this. The USB Image Tool can be used to perform backups of data whenever a USB flash drive is connected to the computer system. This can be interesting to backup cell phone data, music, photos and basically anything else that is of importance to the user.

Another option is the creation of multiple images for the same device and to replace these images whenever the need arises. This could be an interesting option to fill mp3 players with different kinds of music or cell phones with applications or games based on travel or business plans.

<span

The drives are displayed in the left sidebar while general information about the selected drive are listed on the right side. Information include the drive’s name, path, storage size and file system.

It is possible to backup or restore data with the click on one of the available buttons at the bottom of the screen. Several options are available that include adding favorite USB images to the interface or creating MD5 checksums during backups.

The USB Image Tool is compatible with most versions of the Microsoft operating system including Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. It can be downloaded from the developer’s website.

<a
