Windows File Analyzer is a file analysis software that can be used to various system specific files. The portable software can be executed from any location on the hard drive and is compatible with all Windows operating systems from Windows 95 to Windows Vista. It requires knowledge of the location of those system files to perform the file analysis and display the results for forensic analysis.

The main interface of Windows File Analyzer is driven by five buttons in the top toolbar that each open up a file browser window. The file analysis software can be used to analyse the following five files: index.dat, prefetch, thumbs.db , shortcuts and recycle bins. Not every Windows system makes use of all of those files as some functions like the thumbnail generation can be deactivated.

Windows File Analyzer will analyse the contents of the selected file and display the results in a table. The table will contain various information depending on the file that has been analyzed. Analyzing a thumbs.db file will for example display all the thumbnails that it contains while the analysis of the prefetch data will display information about the applications that are prefetched, the time the entry has been created and last used on the computer system.

Windows File Analyzer combines various tools that can be used to analyse a computer system and reveal information about its users. Multiple file analysis’ can be open at the same time. Each report can be printed in user friendly form for further analysis. Some knowledge is required to start a file analysis which might require research on the Internet to find out where the files that can be analyses are located on the computer system.

Online services that tell you things you already know seem to be becoming increasingly popular. Some analyze your browsing history to tell you if you are male or female while others analyze websites and tell you what kind of person you are.

The author’s at Ghacks are Duty Fullfillers according to the analysis of Typealizer. Duty Fullfillers are the responsible and hardworking type that are careful about getting facts right and reluctant to take risks. Rarst on the other hand is a guardian, one of the organizing and efficient type who are attuned to setting goals and managing available resources to get the job done.

Most technology blogs seem to fall into those two categories, think Lifehacker (Duty Fullfillers) or Download Squad (Guardians). Typealizer works best with blogs but it can actually be used on many websites that are not blogs as well. Some websites cannot be processed at the moment including CNN but most English or Swedisch websites and blogs should return a result. (Perez Hilton turned out to be detected as a Thai blog..)

Are you one of those people that are hard pressed whenever they have to make a decision? It can be about basic things like asking a girl out, eating or buying some new household items. It could also be about life changing things like jobs, moving or buying larger items like cars or apartments.

A computer program helping in the decision making could be an asset as long as there are criteria that can be weighted. To give an example. The question about the next summer vacation could be broken down in criteria like temperature, beach access, distance or costs and information on how to value the parameters. For temperature it could be the higher the better, beach access should be yes, distance should be as low as possible and costs as well.

The locations would then be added as options and values assigned to every criteria. Option 1 could be Sweden with a mean temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, beach access, 1800 kilometers distance and a total cost of 1200 Dollar per person. Option 2 could be Madagascar with a mean temperature of 35 degrees, 2600 kilometers distance and a total cost of $1500 Dollar per person.

The computer would then compute the results and present them to the user. Decision Oven is that program. It can do everything that has been mentioned in the article.

The application will display a total score and rank the options accordingly. It is of course up to you to convince your girlfriend to postpone the marriage because the computer said so.
