href="http://www.feedmyapp.com/p/a/audio-tools-web-20-applications-sites-soundamus/4648">Feed my App) is a web service that is using Last.fm userdata to generate an RSS feed of upcoming and new releases of artists that the user listens to. All that’s needed to create the feed is the username of a Last.fm user, it does not have to be your own because no personal data or password is required to generate the feed.

Well, actually it’s two feeds that are created. The first lists the upcoming releases while the second lists the releases of the previous year. I tested it with several usernames and it is working fine. It takes anywhere between 1 and 30 minutes before the feed displays the releases according to the Soundamus website although I was able to see the first items after less than a minute.

The feed items list information such as name of the album and release date. It also contains several links to pages that contain further information, some of them are located on Last.fm, some on the Soundamus website. There is also an option to add the date to Google Calendar and to buy the CD from a online shop.

<span

Again with links to all kinds of sites including Last.fm.

Radiohead is trying a new distribution method

Music and Video

album

download

in rainbows

music

radiohead
<guid

They currently are under no contract with a major record label and are therefor trying to distribute their upcoming album called In Rainbows which will be released October 10, 2007 and exclusively available for purchase on an Internet website.

What makes this rather unique is the approach of the band. Instead of asking for a certain price for the album they let the fans decide what they would like to pay for it. Yes, that is right, you can pay $0 or $100 or even more if you like. Everyone may download the In Rainbows album afterwards.

Even if you select to pay $0 for the album – or better a digital download of it – you have to pay a fee for the credit card transaction. This is however a very interesting experiment which will most likely be a success for Radiohead.

A discbox will also be released which is essentially a double vinyl/double CD release. Everyone purchasing the discbox may also download the music from the website. The discbox will be priced at £40 including shipping and handling.

Read More:

<a
