Microsoft Corporation was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen back in 1975. The company gained traction in the PC market thanks to its MS-DOS operating system which was followed by Microsoft Windows, a graphical user interface that established the company’s domination in the home PC market.

Microsoft today is best know for the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, the company’s Office suite, and several other services that the company either created and published by itself, like the Bing search engine, the browser Internet Explorer and the file synchronization service SkyDrive, or acquired like the messaging software Skype.

Microsoft recently began to invest heavily into the smartphone market, where it tries to gain traction with Windows Phone, and the tablet device market with the release of its first first party tablet device to the public, the Surface.

It can also contain additional information like comments and remarks, previous authors or revisions. While that is normally not a problem for the author because most recipients do not care […]

Microsoft's Small Business Center is offering six free design families for Microsoft Office 2007 that can be downloaded directly from the promotional website. A design family is simply a collection of several templates for different Office 2007 applications that have all the same look and feel to them. I have to agree with Ryan from […]

Am I the only one that is starting to get confused by all the online services offered by Microsoft, Yahoo, Google and others ? There are several third party applications that make it possible to create PDF documents from within Microsoft Office. Most of these add a virtual printer that converts the Microsoft Office document to PDF. It came as a bit of a surprise to me that Microsoft is working on a list creation program, much like the web 2.0 list apps we can see around the web. I took a quick look, but since it's only a tech preview, it's quite basic, and only has bare-bone features. This shouldn't be […]

The Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 has been released a bit more than a month ago and is already beginning to cause problems for several users who applied the Service Pack. I would think that a Service Pack adds functionality and fixes security vulnerabilities. This one apparently blocks old file formats from being loaded […]

Microsoft released the Office 2003 Service Pack 3 just a few hours ago which contains the latest updates for Office 2003. The pack with a size of 117 Megabytes contains 22 security patches and updates as well as the previous two service packs for Office 2003. The main emphasize of this service pack seems to […]

Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 is currently priced at $619 at Amazon. Microsoft knows that only a few students have the money to buy a software suite for roughly $600 which is why they decided to run a promotion that sells Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 for $59 which is an absolute bargain.

Microsoft Office introduced several new file formats which can't be read by older versions of the various Office products. I'm not sure why Microsoft decided to change the file formats but it is really a hassle for me. I'm running Office 2007 on my system while my girlfriend is still running an older version of […]
