I decided to install a forum on a temporary basis for now and decided on its fate depending on how it will develop over the course of the coming weeks. I tried to keep it as clean and fast as possible and some of you might be a bit disappointed when they compare the forum software that I have been installing with suits like phpbb or vbulletin.

Let me first explain why I have decided to use the bbpress forum software. The main reason is that it was developed by the same guys who also created the blog software that I’m using and that it integrates well with that software. This means that you have to register once at the forum and may use the login for the forum on ghacks as well. This has the big advantage that your comments on ghacks are less likely to be declared as spam by the automatic spam checking scripts.

When I first started the blog I never thought that it would be this successful but thanks to you it became quickly a well frequented blog with a loyal readership. I hope that you will be as happy with my website as you are know, please promise that you will let me know if something changes that you do not like.

I recently received some emails asking about the kind of hosting that I was using for ghacks.net and I decided that it would be a nice idea to write about it in an article. Ghacks is running on a dedicated server provided by the German company Hetzner with the following details: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ cpu, 2 GB DDR 400 Ram, 2x 160 GB SATA hard drives, unlimited traffic and Suse 10.0 as its operating system.

I never experienced problems with the server and the price will blow most of you away I think, it is only 59 Euro a month with everything included. 59 Euros are about 70$ a month, still a bargain I’d say. Some of the services they offer are free phone support, 24/7 reset service, full root access (of course), 50 GB backup space, six IPs and much more. The link above is a link to their english page.

Today was the first day that I was able to use the internet connection at the hotel to check if my site was up and running and I’m really happy that everything is looking so well. I will be back tomorrow and start updating ghacks again, today I just want to write some impressions about Prague.

I could say it with just a few words: Prague is wonderful. The first ride from the airport to the hotel was fantastic and created a great impression of Prague. I was not able to decide where to look first while walking around the city center. Old wonderful buildings everywhere, so much culture and people from all over Europe and Asia.
