Another site that offers tv streams for free

Wow those sites seem to popup like nothing else at the moment. Everton from connected internet was writing about streamick and I decided to add an article of my own to give you an alternative to all those other streaming sites out there. Streamick offers more than 300 tv channels to choose from including BBC One, ESPN Starsports, CNN & several other news channels.

Watch hundreds of full tv shows, cartoons and anime

TV Links is a site I never heard about before. It has a big listing of many of the most popular tv shows, cartoon & anime series. The site lists the name of the shows and the number of seasons that they link to on their main page. If you click on a link a page with all links to all episodes that are available will load and all that is left to do is click on one of the links to be taken to a website that hosts the movie.

TVU Player 2.3 out

TVU Networks have quietly released a new version of their acclaimed TVU Player which makes it possible to watch many popular tv stations from the internet. You can watch channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, FOX, NBC, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central using TVU Player. It does not deliver the same experience than watching the shows on a big tv though. Due to limited bandwidth the channels look fine if you keep the output window small, if you go fullscreen it becomes pretty blurry.

Watch Arrested Development on MSN

The first five episodes of the tv series Arrested Development have been released on MSN and can be viewed directly from the browser. As suspected the site only supports Internet Explorer and Media Player. If you are using a different browser or movie player it will ask you to download those programs from Microsoft and use them to view the show. This if of course a big drawback but fans will surely go the extra mile for this series.

Create your own mp3 ringtones

Most teens love ringtones, new ones, unique ones that none of their friends have. It almost seems like a race for the newest coolest ringtone which starts again with every passing day. One method to get the newest ringtones would be to buy them for horrendous prices – honestly I never understood why users would pay so much money for a 20 seconds song. A better (cheaper) way would be to create the ringtones on your own which ensures two things:

Line Rider

Line Rider (flash, download) is a work of art, not a game per se. There is no goal to achieve and the only satisfaction you will get is a to create a animation that is worth recording and uploading to video sites like Youtube. Your weapons: A pencil, a tool to move the screen, the play button, pause button, trashcan and save. You draw lines with the pencil which will later be the course for a little man and his sled.

Top 10 Ideas For Halloween

Halloween – Hate it or love it. The time of the year when most adults and teens alike rejoice at the prospect of dressing like superman, the simpsons or south park characters. I tried to find costumes and accessories that could be made instead of just purchased, it does feel better to wear something that you created with your own hands instead of buying something that thousands of other people might wear as well; dont you think ?

My new Poker Blog

Hi everyone, I justed wanted to write a short introduction to my new poker blog which I started a few days ago. I thought it might be of interest to some of you who are playing poker online or would like to know more about the game and maybe play online as well. The poker blog is mainly about my ups and lows in the poker world, I tend to play at partypoker and when something very nice or very bad happens I blog about it.

Ever wanted to have a keyless door ? Here is one

You see keyless doors all the time on tv, in series like 24 and alias for instance and every movie in which the military plays a part. They never have normal doors, they use keyless doors that work either by using fingerprints to identify the person and grant / deny access or keycards to do the same. It still sounds a lot like science fiction and I bet you never seen something like this on your neighbors door – so, why not be the first one who has this kind of device ?

Quick links for 2006-09-26

I decided to post some quick links to interesting sites that are not worth a complete story. Not worth is maybe not the right phrase – there is not much to write about so I decided to compile them in a list with just a short explanation. The first big news that seemed to hit every blog on the planet was the release of Firefox 2.0 Release Candidate 1. The release candidate is finally out of beta and firefox 2 is on schedule to be released next month. You find versions for windows, linux and mac as usual on the mozilla ftp site.

Star Wars Stormtrooper Armor

Ever wondered where those guys in stormtrooper armor got their suits from ? Look no further, the Shepperton Design Studio is selling a complete Stormtropper armor for a very reasonable price. You can purchase the battle helmet for 299 British pounds and the suit (without helmet) for 999 British pounds. Both combined sell for 1299,95 pounds. The offers seems successful because currently all items are out of stock and will be available again in October.

Dreamhack Winter 2006 the largest LAN party ever

Jönköping, Sweden, November 30th to December 3rd, Dreamhack. The place the biggest lan party on earth takes place. The aim of the organization for the winter event (there is also a summer event) is 10000 attenders. Last winter saw more than 7000 attenders and it is most likely that the 10000 goal will be reached. Why I’m writing about this ? Well, I’m considering going there, if you see the pictures and videos of previous events you know why. This is unbelievable.

The Desktop of the Future

This is a video from the dynamic graphics project at the University of Toronto named: Keeping it Real: Pushing the Desktop Metaphor with Physics, Piles and the Pen in BumpTop. Big title, ain’t it ? What they did is project the concept of the normal desktop, the real one not the one from your computer to your computer by making it 3 dimensional. Files are shown as three dimensional items as well that can be placed on top of each other, sorted, deleted and manipulated manifold.

Huge High Resolution Wallpaper Website

Mydeskcity is a hugh, and I mean really huge, high quality wallpaper website that is not overloaded with advertisement like most of the other wallpaper websites out there. The only drawback that I could find is that this website is not in english but Chinese (?), at least I think it is Chinese. Navigating it is easy nevertheless: The thumbnails on the main page depict the theme of the category, clicking on one of the numbers above the thumbnail leads to the corresponding page of the category.

Air Conditioned Shirt

I have seen many crazy things being invented in the last couple of years but this could top it all. A shirt with air conditioning that can be plugged into a usb port ? Now, we know that all kinds of strange gadgets exist that are usb powered like beverage coolers and air fans. This shirts actually have two fans build into them that run on a low frequency and keep the temperature level of your body at a cool level.

Transparent TV from Sony

It seems that Sony is still able to produce innovative products. I read that this one is not totally new but it is the first time I see something like that. They seem to be using a projector at the back of the transparent material (glass ?) to display the image. The speakers seem rather big for this television, you will need lots of free space to place the tv in a room.

All the movies, concerts, documentations and animations on the free movies website are public domain. The site holds currently 93 movies and 85 documentaries plus additional animations and concert videos.

Don´t like a website ? Destroy it..

Yeah this sounds crazy at first glance but a friend of mine and I thought of something similar just a few days ago. So, let us destroy some websites. My first target: Microsoft, the weapon: Muddy Footprints. After approximately one minute the complete site was full of mud. Great, now something more devastating. I placed some nasty landmines on the website of my good old friend Derryck from connectedinternet.

Open Movie Elephants Dream

Open Movie, what does that mean ? It means that the movie has been created with open source tools and that all production files are available under a creative commons license. Graphics and sound of Elephants Dream look incredible but the story is somewhat confusing. I guess the movie aims more towards a presentation of what can be done with open source tools which is fine with me.

Tour de France Live Tracker

Maybe some of you do like cycling and watching the Tour de France. I found a live tracker that displays every stage of the tour de france. Shown on the map are of course start and end of the current stage as well as information about mountain and sprint stations along the way.

I think this is worth an article. A guy running the website digg drop found more than 900 complete cartoons and animations on youtube and listed them all on his website. Ah childhood memories, wonderful. If you grew up like me in the 80´s you might remember the time when they began playing music videos on television. This was a great experience and watching some of those videos again is really bringing back some childhood memories.

Unbelievable Dance Choreography in Guild Wars

Sometimes even I get to see something new on the internet. I knew that that entire movies (machinima) existed that were created using game engines like quake, unreal tournament or world of warcraft. What I did not knew was that there were people (and I mean 50+) who apparently created whole choreographies using this technique.

Amazing Animator vs Animation Flash Movie

What a great idea. A flash movie called Animator vs Animation about a flash artist who creates a stickman called victim who does not want to get killed by the artist. You see a fight of the animated stickman in the flash toolbar and workplace against the artist. Enjoy this fantastic movie..

Playing Unreal Tournament with a Power Glove

Ok this looks extremely cool and seems to work quite well. Zerosign have a movie of a guy who is using a powerglove instead of a mouse to play unreal tournament. The powerglove is, or better was, actually a hardware addon for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and failed miserably. If you are interested in the history of the powerglove check out the wikipedia entry.

Pandora The Music Genome Project

Until now I´ve heard a lot about the music service pandora offers but I never happened to test the service myself. Well, I tried it today and have to say that the concept itself is fantastic. You tell them a song or artist that you like and the service tries to find similar artists using characteristics of the artist or song. So, if you enter The Beatles for instance you will be connected to a radio that plays music that offers the same characteristics as the Beatles.
