For those of you who are new to this, manga is basically the Japanese version of a comic book. Why should manga interest you? Well, for one thing, if you enjoy watching anime, you’d know that most anime series are adapted from their manga forms. This includes hits like Naruto and Bleach, amongst others.

Big Bug Bunny is the second Open Movie after Elephants Dream and it is really astonishing what a team of dedicated artists can create with a limited budget. The quality of the movie is excellent and on pair with popular Dreamworks creations but unlike those Big Bug Bunny can be freely distributed and is already available in various formats and video portals.

The video is available in the formats MP4, H.264, Ogg and MSMP4 and resolutions 1920×1080, 1280×720 and 854×480 as well as versions for Sony’s PSP. The direct downloads are rather slow at the moment and I suggest to use the torrent download for fast and speedy transfers.

Another option would be to view the video on Youtube (ok quality) or Vimeo (better quality).

I discovered a nice website running a script that can create a CD, and DVD, paper case for you. The most basic version of the CD paper case requires an artist, an title and tracks to be entered before the paper case will be created as an Adobe PDF document that can be printed later on.

The basic form can list up to 16 titles and offers several optional parameters like selecting the paper format, type (papercase or jewel case) and the font from Western, Japanese, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional. An advanced form is available as well which increases the tracks to 28, provides room for additional text, an address and return address and a graphic from a selection on the site.

Once a paper has been created it needs to be printed and folded to resemble a paper CD case. Folding the CD case is not complicated, take a look at the image below to see how that is done.

With the much anticipated release of Firefox 3, Mozilla also wants to set a Guiness Record of the “most downloaded software in 24 hours”. I think that is put just plain stupidly, but nevertheless, if you’re a Firefox fan, why not? You can visit the Spread Firefox site and offer your pledge to download Firefox 3 on the day of its release.

The actual date will be posted on the site itself soon, so you can schedule it to make sure you make good on your pledge. The site features a cool map which shows pledges according to country, I am proud to say my country, Hungary is the best in its region, central Europe, it is doing especially well regarding population. Yay!

If you have a blog or a website they have some cool banners and other ideas to promote the event, and since Firefox has done so much for the web, I at least urge everyone to help out. This is the first actual attempt at this, so even with 1 download they will create a World Record, but they set out for 5 million, which is no small number. Firefox 2 was downloaded about 1.5 million times on its release date, so I think 5 million is a but pushing it, but definitely possible, go Mozilla!

1000 Kilogram are 1.3 cows, 5.6 female lions or 1 shire horse while 100000 kilogram equal 18 male African elephants and 7.1 Big Bens. The website Sensible Units (via Genbeta) converts boring units like Kilogram, Meters, Miles or Pounds into real world objects. There is obviously no real scientific value behind the calculations but it is still interesting to discover how some units convert into real objects.

Currently only units of length and mass are converted into real objects but the developers promise to add additional units in future versions. The conversions are displayed immediately on the website which means everything takes place on the same page. The script lets you know if it cannot find any real world object of that size; Don’t give up at that point, you might be surprised that it will most likely find objects for larger values again.
