After releasing the Firefox update to 2.0.0.6 early because of a serious security vulnerability the update for Thunderbird was released on schedule. The automatic update routine is already suggesting to update Thunderbird to its newest version and the website has been updated with the latest information as well.
Outlook Desktop
Several of my friends rely heavily on the excellent Calendar function in Microsoft Outlook to organize their work routine. The Outlook Calendar does have a serious disadvantage if you compare it to a normal paper calendar though because it is not visible all the time. A paper calendar is always visible and Outlook does not offer this functionality unless you use Michael Scrivo’s Outlook Desktop application.
PDF Email Spam on the rise
I have been getting lots of emails lately that have most of the time no text whatsoever but a pdf attachment with titles such as report.pdf, article.pdf or bill.pdf. Those are real pdf files and if you open them you see that they contain – you guessed it already did not you – spam.
Advanced Security for Outlook
Some of my friends still use Outlook because they need the excellent calendar functionality and I’m forced to live with it at work as well. I guess a lot of other users have to work with Outlook as well that is why I thought it would be a nice idea to write about the software Advanced Security for Outlook.
Thunderbird 2.0.0.5 available
Wow, what is going on here. First the Firefox update to version 2.0.0.5, then Opera with its new version 9.22 of the Opera browser and now Thunderbird with another update to 2.0.0.5. I’m updating my software all day if the trend continues. The release is already available on the website and through the “check for updates” dialog in Thunderbird. I was not reminded however that there was a new version of Thunderbird available during program start.
Spamato anti spam solution for email clients
Spamato is a free software that was developed in Java which can be used to detect and delete spam found in many popular mail clients such as Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook and others. Several clients have specialized versions for them and all others can use the standalone version which acts as a mail proxy that sits between the mail client and the mail server.
Thunderbird 2.0.0.4 released
A new version of my favorite mail client Thunderbird has just been released on an Mozilla mirror ftp site and will most likely be available on the website and by automatic updates later this day. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the latest version you could download the latest Thunderbird release for Windows or Linux.
