This is a helpful extension. You might know Tor which helps you anonymize your internet traffic or Torpark which is basically Firefox with an always active Tor. Most people don´t need to be anonymous all the time when they are connected to the internet. Some paranoids will disagree here but I think there is no need for anonymity if you want to check on the latest football scores or a weather report.

If you agree with me on this Torbutton might be the right firefox extension for you. You can start and stop the Tor service with the click of a button. You need to install Tor as well, download link is provided from the page above and privoxy. If you like it use it and make sure you check if its working by visiting a website that shows your IP.

Everyone knows that it´s possible to download google video files as .fla files directly using services like keepvid.com. Not many do know that it is also possible to save them directly as avi files as well. All you need is this little bookmarklet Save Google Video Files as Avi

Simply save the link as a bookmark and navigate video.google.com and watch a video there. Click on the bookmark and it will show the save as dialog, and the file will be saved as avi and not fla. So, no need for that .fla player anymore and there is also no need to convert the fla files to avi. Watch the movie, hit the bookmark, save, and watch from your computer.

ABC started their streaming service on their website today. Users from the USA are able to watch episodes of Lost, Desperate Houswives, Alias and others right from the website. Unfortunatly they check your IPs origin and decline access if the whois turns out to be from outside the USA. But as always, there is a way around this restriction.

This is slighty complex but you should get used to the procedure. All you need is a http proxy that is hosted inside the USA and does not spill your IP address. To achieve this you need a application that checks proxy servers for those variables. I recommend Charon for this task but you could use other tools as well.

I again point you to a new version of firefox before it becomes official. To download the latest version head over to this ftp directory of mozilla.org. The version installed without problem over 1.5.0.2, all extensions that I have installed are still working.
Versions for Macintosh, Linux and Windows 32 available.

As a reminder, 1.5.0.3 is just a security fix that has been made public in the last days so everything that was scheduled for 1.5.0.3 initially has been moved to 1.5.0.4.
