I'm on W7, with little interest in W10.
Am weighing up whether to go Linux.
    Is it suitable for newbies?

From the offer description: "Gain the knowledge & skills to install, configure, & support a Linux/UNIX server "
So if you're on W7 moving to 'nix, you should look for a course for desktop Linux, not servers.
