    Hi Martin,

I am a bit confused about the term lifetime. Can you or someone else please explain to me what lifetime stands for ? The next 10 or 20 years ? Wondering how such a VPN could stay in business. Thanks for your help.

    • Martin Brinkmann January 5, 2017 at 8:44 pm #

Lifetime usually means for life. For the PureVPN offer for instance it means that you get access for 5 years, and can contact support after those five years to get another five years, and so on.

There is of course always the chance that things can go wrong, e.g. a service going out of business, but that can happen regardless of offer.

While you need to research a company before you subscribe, both listed here have operated VPNs for years.

How they can afford this? Maybe they have enough capacities to get more customers on board. I have no insights in the companies financials, but having more capacities than needed is my top guess.

        @Martin Brinkmann

        Hi Martin,

I was wondering which VPN service would you recommend as the most trustworthy and secure? I know the whole business idea about providing a VPN service is now directed towards leveraging on the users' data that a vpn server would accumulate; everyone's trying hard to grab a share from the giant internet service providers. I had used ibVPN in the past, but after reading their terms and conditions, i have changed my mind to not renew it.

Would appreciate if you could suggest one or two good brands.

        Thanks :)

I have used Private Internet Access but ran into issues with their latest software versions (dropped connections, DNS issues).

Currently, I'm using PureVNP and NordVPN most of the time. You can grab a lifetime subscription for PureVPN on Ghacks Deals https://deals.ghacks.net/sales/lifetime-of-purevpn but there is unfortunately no such offer for NordVPN.

In the end, it depends a lot on what you need the service for.

I am reading some great reviews about Nord VPN, I guess I will give it a go. Other cheap VPN services are in the market for a reason. :P

        Thank you.

For someone who used to live in a country that has very slow and limited internet caps, an "unlimited" VPN seems like a difficult concept to grasp. Yeah I know you said they have more capacity... but HOW? Where I come from, bandwidth is precious and very, very expensive.

I used to download my 2GB allotted data in 15 days (512kb/s) and afterwards, I'm slowed to literal dialup speeds (56kbps) for the remaining 1GB for the last 15 days of the month.

Oh, and this was a house-based connection mind, not cellphone data.

The Australian company... Australia is part of the 5-Eyes countries.

The Five Eyes alliance is a secretive, global surveillance arrangement of States comprised of the United States National Security Agency (NSA), the United Kingdom’s Government Communications Headquarters(GCHQ), Canada’s Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), and New Zealand’s Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB)....

Here's what we do know: under the agreement interception, collection, acquisition, analysis, and decryption is conducted by each of the State parties in their respective parts of the globe, and all intelligence information is shared by default. The agreement is wide in scope and establishes jointly-run operations centres where operatives from multiple intelligence agencies of the Five Eyes States work alongside each other...

I wonder why would you want to buy a VPN service which is not a secure VPN ?

  6. I tried this deal January 7, 2017 at 9:57 pm #

I bought this deal and downloaded the three software packages. The VPNS Tunnel Manager crashes constantly. I tried a reboot of my Windows 10 Anniversary Edition and the system stayed busy for a very long time (busy cursor over task bar), until I finally decided to reboot the machine again. The VPNSecure app was unable to maintain a connection for more than 3 seconds before the first reboot. Things finally seem to be working except that the Tunnel Manager continues to crash after the 2nd reboot. I established a VPNSecure connection and directed my browser to GRC Shields Up! to look for any port exposure. My ports were no longer stealth. My HTTP port, DCOM and one other port were OPEN. My IP address was showing as primaryelection.net

Does the subscription include OpenVPN and PPTP? In the specs tab I can only read: "Package includes HTTP Proxy + Smart DNS solutions". Thanks!
